Update from the earlier serious crash on NJ 37 Westbound near the J. Stanley Tunney Bridge. The victim stated he was cut off and lost control of his vehicle.
Toms River: On Saturday November 28, at 5:53 PM, police were dispatched to 3400 Route 37 for a serious motor vehicle accident. Gabriel S. Frigerio 3rd, 38 of Toms River, was traveling westbound on Route 37 approaching Pisces Restaurant when his vehicle went off the road to the right, striking a curb then a large decorative cleat at the base of the driveway to Pisces Restaurant. After striking the cleat, the vehicle then flipped onto its roof, slide across the driveway and struck the opposite curb which caused the vehicle to flip back onto its wheels. The vehicle then struck another large, decorative chain in the parking lot of Pisces before coming to rest.
During the crash, Mr. Frigerio sustained serious injury to his left arm and was partially amputated. Officer Scott Devecka and Officer Brian Elwood were the first officers on scene. They observed the driver was alert and conscious, but entrapped in the vehicle. Officers Devecka and Elwood were able to pull Mr. Frigerio out of the vehicle through the back door and Officer Devecka immediately applied a tourniquet to Mr. Frigerio’s arm in order to stop the excessive bleeding.
Mr. Frigerio stated that he was cut off by an unknown vehicle which caused him to veer off the roadway. He was properly wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. There is currently no evidence to suggest that Mr. Frigerio was under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substance or that he was operating the vehicle while using a cell phone.
Due to his severe injuries, Mr. Frigerio was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment of his injuries and is listed in stable condition. Ocean County Sheriff’s Office CSI also responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation by Toms River Traffic Safety Officer PJ Gambardella.

????????????
???? I am sure speed played apart.
Jeff Fedak maybe it did…maybe it didn’t…either way a mans life was forever changed tonight….maybe we can hold off on these comments.
Speed always plays a factor. If everyone was going zero, there wouldn’t have been a crash.
Jeff Fedak according to toms river police page it said he claimed he was ran off the road
Jeff Fedak he was doing the speed limit was cut off and flipped multiple times
Jeff Fedak no it didn’t

Of course speed was involved you ever see how fast they come across that bridge
Mark Hodges of course ???? you were there?
Debby Dally Lombard
I’m not going to sit here and argue with anybody but speed is always a factor coming over the bridge it doesn’t matter if it’s you or the other person that cut them off
Mark Hodges actually ur wrong so don’t assume shit! Don’t u think shit like this is hard enough on the family? People like u want to assume? The speed limit is 50, if someone cuts you off and you try to avoid an accident this is very possible!
Mellisa Iris agreed ????
Mellisa Iris the speed limit over the bridge is not 50 it’s 40. Speed limit doesn’t change to 50 until the light getting off the bridge on 37.
He was on 37 when he crashed
Mark Hodges he was cut off and doing the speed limit per police report
Debbie Todd I never said the man was f****** speeding I said speed was probably a factor the person that cut them off or whatever else you f****** people assume everything
Nobody said anything about the other post I said that hope you recover fast and I hope he’s okay
Mark Hodges I did not assume anything
I just stated facts from the police report
Debbie Todd all you people assumed I said he was speeding I never said he was speeding
Mark Hodges no you assumed
That speed had something to do with it
Its 50, I live right here would you like me to go take a picture for you miss know it all, my friend was hit speeding and even if it was 40…. let me cut you off while you’re doing 40 and have you hit a curb go 30 for in the air and let me see what your car looks like afterwards. My friend is in an induced coma fightin to keep his arm so he can continue a normal life and support his family. If you don’t know facts please find something better to do with your time. I was there, so I do have have facts. Respect my friend and his family and find a hobby.
It’s a shame but we pray to God that they make it safe speedy recovery
Toms River PD posted the story. Prayers that they save his arm & has a speedy recovery. Part of the story….
Cassandra Kupszta-Colgate
Yes, the whole story is in our article.
Ocean County Scanner News I was just posting in response to those saying speed had to be a factor.
Kyle Lasky the same way someone flipped his car in front of my house when he swerved and went up the curb to avoid hitting the car in front of him.
Cassandra Kupszta-Colgate
Thanks! Speed was certainly not a factor here.
Ocean County Scanner News I was responding to Kyle’s comment to me but his post is gone. ????♀️
????
Sorry to hear about the injuries, but looking at the extensive damage to the vehicle, my question is, how the hell fast was he going???
this is my best friend, and his car looks like that bc he struck a curb after being cut off and went 30 feet in the air before landing on his roof and having his car flip a bunch of times….he lost his arm. Have some compassion for his family and stop trying to play detective. I was there the entire time bc I just so happen to live right on the next block and be coming home behind him…. he was doing the speed limit and they are looking for the person who cut him off and left the scene. He could have died and all he was trying to do was go to work at his second job to give his kids a good Christmas.
Brittany Michelle I only asked a legitimate question.
I meant no disrespect.
Prayers for a speedy recovery.
I apologize if I came at you, I’ve been reading stuff all night/morning and I’m still really upset about this whole thing. I’m happy he’s alive but again his passion is working on cars and now that was ripped away from Him. I’m sorry if I came off rude
Brittany Michelle Oh my God! Sweetie! It’s OK. The situation is horrible and I could never hold that against anybody!
Brittany Michelle I am so sorry about this. How terrible. I really hope they catch the guy that cut him off. What a horrible accident. Xoxoxo
Brittany Michelle cars crumble very easy these days. Not made like they used to. Many prayers for this man and his family. I hope they find the person that caused it.
Brittany Michelle ????????
Misty Dakota the speed limit per the police report
He was cut off
Debbie Todd I know. Britney and I had a chat.
Misty Dakota
To everyone saying he was speeding, he was doing the speed limit. Maybe keep your comments to yourself. He’s one of the most selfless amazing people I know and definitely didn’t deserve to have his life turned upside down while he was on his way to work. I live right there and was following behind him to go home and he went airborne about 30ft in the air after being cut off… not everyone speeds. Doing 50 mph and being cut off to hit a curb can cause you to go airborne and he landed on his roof before flipping a bunch of times…He has a family and kids. Stop with the negativity and playing Nancy drew. He lost his arm and now can’t do what he loves as a career anymore. It’s the holidays and my way friend absolutely didn’t deserve this. And I hope whoever cut him off and left the scene gets the karma that’s coming to them.
Brittany Michelle so sad to hear this and for your friend.. you said he has children.. maybe there can be some kind of collection for them? I’d love to send a little something.
I’m going to talk to his family and set up go fund me for him and his kids , he would literally give the shirt off his back. Once I figure everything out I will lyk. Thank you so much ????
Brittany Michelle so sorry this happened to him. Please reach back out if we can help make their holiday a little less of a burden on the family. ????
Brittany Michelle
While we realize that Facebook traffic court has already begun- pay no matter to the comments. If there is a way OCSN can share a fundraiser, or help the victim’s family somehow- please email us. ❤️
Brittany Michelle I am terribly sorry this horrible accident happened to your friend. You shouldn’t have to defend him, accidents happen, but it is nice to have somebody like you in his corner.
Brittany Michelle so sorry this has happened!! ☹️
Brittany Michelle thank you for setting people straight on what really happened. So sorry to hear what happened to this poor guy and I totally agree with the karma too.
Brittany Michelle keep focus on positive actions and thoughts for your friend. The people passing judgment don’t realize it could have happened to them, or someone close to them.
Brittany Michelle I commend you for being a good friend and defending the victim! I see you say you were right behind him when it happened. I pray for you having to witness this with a friend as the victim. Please take some time for self care while looking out for your friend.
Decades ago I witnessed an accident, and helped provide first aid to the victims while a friend went to call it in. (Like I said decades ago before cell phones) I still have nightmares from what I viewed.
Brittany Michelle thank you for saying something people are so rude any more they find the out the facts frist so again thanks
Brittany Michelle so very sad….prayers for this man and his family????
Brittany Michelle sorry to see this post smh I hope he recovers as well as he can and get the help he will need due to his amputation it will be a journey for him mentally and physically no one should be saying anything negative prayers to him and his family…ur a good friend brittany Michelle
