Pedestrian Injured in Motor Vehicle Accident
On Sunday, June 16, 2019 at approximately 11:58 PM multiple police units were dispatched to the intersection of Route 70 nearMassachusetts Ave for reports of a pedestrian hit by a passing vehicle. John Daniels, 54 of Lakewood, was attempting to cross Route 70 to contact the driver of the AAA truck he had called to assist with his disabled motorcycle when he was struck by a 2007 Dodge Caliber driven by Marc Trzaska, 49 of Lakehurst.
Preliminary investigation revealed there was no indication of impairment of the driver as well as no suggestion of cell phone use. Mr. Daniels was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center and is listed in critical, but stable, condition.
The accident is being investigated by Toms River Police Traffic Safety Officer David Bartosheck.

Let’s make one thing clear. My uncle, John Daniels. did NOT walk into traffic blindly. Since ignorance is obviously still a thing and people like to speak on distinctions they don’t know the back story for. His motorcycle broke down. He was walking towards the AAA tow truck that was picking his motorcycle up when he was hit. The driver of the truck put out that it was a freak accident, he simply didn’t see my uncle passing. I wonder, if the tables were turned and this was your family member would you comment on the article with the same energy you’re using to speak upon my uncle? Or would compassion and empathy exist.
Since everyone has an opinion. He is my uncle. He didn’t walk into the road blindly. He was walking to the AAA driver that came to pick up his bike that broke down and the driver of the van that hit him made a statement and said that he simply did not see him as he crossed the road. So yes, some of these comments are ignorant and rude by individuals who’ve clearly chosen to assume and be sarcastic over a situation that doesn’t effect the directly. Heartless and selfish. Because like someone else said, I’m sure if it was your family member and you were the ones reading the comments you’d be just as angry. The lack empathy and sympathy show the type of character some self centered individuals are. He survived by the way, in case anyone cared. His kids and family won’t be saying goodbye anytime soon.
