It’s always so sad to see a dog that has suffered neglect and abuse, but when the dog has special needs, it’s especially heartbreaking. Bruno broke every heart when he arrived at AHS-Newark Branch in early June, after an Irvington resident found him roaming the streets injured, bleeding, and stumbling. We can’t imagine what terrible ordeal that poor dog suffered.

Bruno was overjoyed to be in good hands when he arrived in the medical department and they immediately began treating his many punctures, lacerations and wounds. He was severely dehydrated, malnourished, he had severely infected ears and a number of other medical maladies. Bruno eagerly ate and drank all that was offered to him and was so grateful to rest on soft blankets, and finally be in good hands.

Bruno spent many weeks under medical care in Newark and it was also noted there that he had some neurological deficiencies. He knuckles under and stumbles occasionally when he walks. He gets around just fine though, and it sure doesn’t slow him down! Once healed, Bruno moved to AHS Lacey to continue on his road to recovery and his search for a good home.

Bruno is about 4 1/2 years old and he’s the sweetest, most lovable lug of a dog. He’s a big boy of about 75 lbs. that pulls quite a bit on the leash, but he does well with a harness. Bruno loves absolutely everyone he meets and despite his past, he even likes other dogs. He’s well-behaved and he’s so happy to chase after every ball you’ll throw for him! He’d love an easy-to-navigate home. Bruno will bring so much joy to a good family that welcomes him home. Please email: [email protected] for an application for Bruno. File#58660 6/5/22
