TOMS RIVER – Operation Barbeque Relief is back to serve 1,000 hot meals to Toms River residents in need on November 6.
Meals will be given out at the Presbyterian Church Toms River parking lot, 1070 Hooper Ave, Toms River, from 12 to 3 p.m.
This event was coordinated through the Hope Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization initiated by the Clergy Association of Greater Toms River. The Hope Center will be hosting a winter coat drive where residents can pick up free coats, blankets, hats, scarves, gloves and diapers. Masks are required indoors.
As recommended by the CDC, social distancing and limiting interactions will take place. As a result, this year’s food distribution will be “drive-through style.” Residents will keep their windows closed and pop the trunk so volunteers can deliver the food to the trunk or truck bed of your car.
“This is our fourth year back helping feed our community that one hot meal that matters. It is always amazing to see what that hot meal can do for someone and we are glad we can do our small part to help our neighbors,” David Keith, Area Coordinator for New Jersey, said.
“Operation BBQ Relief has been providing hot meals to residents in need before and throughout the pandemic,” Mayor Maurice B. Hill said. “We are very thankful that they will be providing hot meals to the residents of Toms River again this year, particularly as we near the Thanksgiving holiday.”
