BRICK: Police are looking for witnesses to a serious crash from around midnight on Friday. A GMC Sierra veered off the road, struck a guard rail, bounced off, and ended up striking another guard rail, and ultimately overturning. The Brick PD are investigating the crash, while OCSN fans argue over the metal railings along the road being called guardrails or guide rails.

According to the police investigation, a GMC Sierra was heading west on Route 70 between Chambers Bridge Road and Cedar Bridge Avenue when it veered off to the right and hit a guard rail. After that, it careened across 70. It then struck the guard rail on the other side of the road and overturned.

The driver, George Francis, 32, of Bayville, was trapped inside the vehicle.

Breton Woods and Pioneer Hose Fire Companies responded to extricate the driver. The Brick Township Police Department’s Patrol Units and Emergency Medical Services along with Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics also responded to the scene.

Francis suffered lower body and possibly internal injuries. He was treated at the scene and then transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

The investigation is ongoing by Officer Joe Farnkopf and Officer Jay Lampiasi of the Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information pertaining to the crash is asked to contact Officer Farnkopf at (732) 262-1140.
