Lacey: Approval for several new businesses was given during Monday evening’s planning board meeting in town. The town and its’ residents will soon welcome a new Burger King, Chipotle, Starbucks, and Popeye’s. The original Burger King closed in the Lacey Mall near Shop Rite around two years ago after being managed poorly for years. A Popeye’s Chicken restaurant will soon occupy the building, which has been previously reported.
Now onto the new stuff! Sunrise Plaza which currently houses Home Depot, Aldi & Kohl’s, will welcome a brand-new Burger King and Chipotle. These restaurants will be built in the empty area in front of Home Depot parking lot closest to US 9. These places will offer drive through and indoor dining service.
A Starbucks was also approved to replace the former Wells Fargo Bank on Lacey Road @ Manchester. Starbucks is planning on the location with the access to the coffee shop from Manchester Avenue as it currently allows. There was some bickering about the Manchester Avenue driveway being eliminated, but that is still being debated.
The town is attempting to build up the tax base to make up for the Nuclear Plant being decommissioned.

Think about this for a second. The same people that are horrified about covid, are the same people that are ok with this. These 3 establishments literally sell processed poison to our communities. This stuff is horrible for your body and kills thousands of people every year. This is disgusting and the last thing we need.

What about a cardiologist? Gonna need few more of them.
I lived in Lacey from 1977 until 2018 and it was a great place to live until around 2000 when they built something everywhere and ruined Lacey
It’s all the same stuff we have elsewhere (why not a Hardee’s or Qdoba instead?) but it’s tax ratables and good food in moderation, so we’ll take it.
Michael De Fortuna
Qdoba was in Brick for a couple of years. Corporate pulled out of the market with no explanation.

I’ve seen the same two complaints from people here, besides the positive comments. Traffic & Tenants.
1. Starbucks was a Bank, and it sits on the corner of a signalized intersection. Aside from jerkoffs backing up onto the road to sit in drive through queue, it should be fine.
BK & Chipotle are going in vacant land inside an existing shopping plaza. The main entry and exit is signalized, and any drive through queue backups will happen in the parking lot.
2. These restaurants are likely run by local people, creating jobs. They’re all franchises, but local money is being circulated within Lacey.
Life is about choice and competition. If you don’t care for any of these food offerings, then don’t go. With the current business environment around here, I don’t think many private small restaurants are eager to open. It will be less mom and pop, and more franchises going forward.
