Brick Police Now Carrying Tasers
Today, for the first time in our department’s history, officers are being deployed with Conducted Energy Devices (CEDs), otherwise known as tasers. Thirty-seven (37) officers are now qualified to utilize these new tools and underwent hours of specialized training. That training included rules of engagement for use of force, Attorney General guidelines on deployment protocols and familiarization on how to safely and effectively deploy the device.
The utilization of CEDs gives the police an option when they are faced with a situation that results in a need to apply force. Officers always prefer to accomplish their mission without having to resort to force, but in those situations where force may be necessary, a CED presents an alternative not previously available to them.
“Encounters with violent suspects are inevitable, but my hope is that now our officers will be able to safely and more quickly resolve an incident before it has a chance to escalate into a situation that results in an injury to the suspect or our officers,” said Chief James Riccio

How would you like them to handle a crazed 250 pound guy on meth for the first time? Talk to him? I’m sorry but your position seems to be one that handcuffs the POLICE more than the suspects! Keith Childers generally talking about all cops that are trigger happy and have been proven and jailed for it yes it happens just Google it and no I’ve never been in handcuffs nor been in trouble with the cops. Keith Childers lets also not forget the cops that shoot them selfs like that one that was in a school while talking to kids or the time the cop failed at drawing his weapon and blew he knee out..al the cops that shoot each other is a good one too.so will the rules be followed 100% just like gun ?..Na shit happens

Considering the alternative….taser or hot lead…it’s their choice! Maybe if they DONT PUT themselves into a position where the taser may have to be used could be an option to think about.

The apprehension and stress of a what’s usually a routine traffic stops is now UBER-HYPED into a chance to make a movie and become a social media star. Imagine a country where the liberal snowflakes were able to get ALL police forces abolished b/c they have the SLIGHTEST issue with authority!? Imagine THAT for a moment. Imagine a gang breaking into your house and no one to call! You’re unable to defend yourself due the outlawing of the smallest personal weapon being CRIMINALIZED by socialist state governments. You can’t defend yourself against a gang who hasn’t a care in the world! “Gun Free Zones” what a SAD, PATHETIC JOKE! Police officers are HUMAN beings, NOT heartless cyborgs who are plugged into a recharging unit every night. Why can’t some folks realize they can’t just do whatever they want to do and the police are WRONG for even THINKING of stopping them. Look at NYC, it’s like the 70’s again…Detroit…some sections are a war zone b/c police cannnot effectively do their jobs. San Francisco is a rats nest with the homeless shanty towns and floods of crime, trash, and human excrement that’s rampant in society because police cannot POLICE their districts. Law abiding citizens go about their lives, it’s those with blatant disregard who cannot accept the fact we are a nation of LAWS! People pay taxes for the enforcement of those laws and those charged with upholding those laws, the private citizens who CHOSE a civil service career, are handcuffed!

It is legal for us regular schmucks to carry tasers in NJ. Incase anyone didn’t know. The state was sued for violating our 2a rights and that’s what they gave us. Tasers. . . .

Brick cops are generally level headed so the only people they might use them on are bad criminals who run or try to fight and technically deserve it. If you are commanded by a cop, don’t resist and you won’t get tazed.
