On Monday, December 16, 2019 at 8:02 p.m., the Lacey Township Police Department responded to the Walmart, 580 Route 9 N, Lanoka Harbor, to investigate a suspicious incident involving an unspecified bomb threat. As a precaution, the manager of the store made the determination to evacuate the building while the incident remained under investigation.
At approximately 11:23 p.m., the store was re-opened to the public after it was determined to be safe. The Lacey Township Police Department was assisted by various K-9 units from throughout Ocean County, as well as patrol officers from Berkeley Township. Additionally, the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department and the Lanoka Harbor First Aid Squad responded to the scene as a precaution. There is no active threat to the public. The incident remains under investigation.
Glad it was unfounded…but…it disrupted many peoples lives. And put them in danger.
