The entire staff here at OCSN are proud to welcome local news legend Catherine Galioto Galesky to the rosters around here. She will be known as OCSN09 and you can reach her shortly here on the page. This is a huge announcement, and I am proud to have her on the team. She will bring the “refined” element of journalism to our page, but while maintaining our sense of humor and being. Please join me in welcoming Cat!

Catherine Galioto Galesky is a longtime Toms River resident whose journalism career includes working as a reporter and editor for such news outlets as Shorebeat, the Times local newspapers, Toms River Patch and the Press Of Atlantic City. She’s also contributed and freelanced for the Asbury Park Press, Bergen Record, Associated Press, Pine Barrens Tribune and Jersey Shore Scene among others, covering breaking news and beat reporting that spanned topics such as Superstorm Sandy, the Ritacco trial, elections and local government.

An alumna of Rutgers, Ocean County College and Toms River East, Catherine is a past winner of the New Jersey Press Association’s Better Newspaper annual contests, receiving awards and recognition along the years across several collegiate, editorial and marketing categories.

Catherine is excited to contribute to Ocean County Scanner News (OCSN) not just because of her passion for local journalism but because she’s been enjoying its journey as a supporter since it’s LNN days!

In addition to all this Catherine runs her own business, media company Full of Moxie Media Group, which offers publicity and social media management services and is also in the testing stage for several niche news sites. In her “spare time” she also serves as a board member to local veterans nonprofit Ma Deuce Deuce and officiates local roller derby games.
