OCEAN COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE HOSTS ELITE “TOP GUN” NARCOTICS ENFORCEMENT TRAINING

August 31st, 2018 — Today Joseph D. Coronato announced that the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Operations Group under the the direction of OCPO Captain, Jack Sramaty hosted an intensive six day “Top Gun” program for over 100 narcotic investigators and supporting legal staff in conjunction with the Morris Count Prosecutor’s Office.

“I commend my Special Operation Group Captain and President of the Statewide County Narcotics Commanders Association Jack Sramaty, OCPO Det. Casey Long, and the many other assisting instructors for their efforts in coordinating such an important narcotic enforcement training course.  Top Gun plays a critical role in preparing investigative and legal staff for extensive narcotic operations.  Though we have been instrumental in hosting and training over 5000 during 53 previous “Top Gun” classes throughout New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania, it has long been my wish to bring the program to our home turf of Ocean County” — Ocean County Prosecutor, Joseph D. The program kicked off on August 30th, 2018 with a welcoming speech from Morris County prosecutor Fredric Knapp who thanked OPCO for working with his office on the 54th Class of “Top Gun”. The training course instructions law enforcement officers and attorneys state wide on the best tactics in investigation and prosecuting gang, gun and drug cases. The participants are trained by some of the most proficient law enforcement offices and prosecutors in the state of New Jersey. The 112 class participants six day training includes lectures, and various hands-on training practices in preparation for any circumstances that may arise while conducting their investigation.

Top Gun PlaqueOpening remarks for the six day intensive narcotics enforcement training program were given by Prosecutor Knapp (President – County Prosecutors Association [CPANJ]), Veronica Allende (Director – New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice ),  Joseph Coronato (Ocean County Prosecutor), and Congressman Tom MacArthur. Both Prosecutor Knapp and Prosecutor Coronato were presented with plaques in recognition of their commitment to “Top Gun” on behalf of the “Top Gun” faculty and the County Narcotics Commanders Association of New Jersey.  This edition of “Top Gun” was co-sponsored by the Morris County and Ocean County Prosecutors’ Offices, CPANJ, the County Narcotics Commanders’ Association of New Jersey, the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice, the New Jersey State Police, the New Jersey Chiefs of County Detectives/Investigators Association, and the Mid-Atlantic Great Lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network.
