Lakewood: The rumors and plans have been circulating over the internet for years now proclaiming the impending closure of the famed Flea Market on NJ 70. For decades the Route 70 Flea Market in Lakewood has been a place for the community to buy and sell goods. Plans were first submitted years ago for new homes, commercial, and likely a Yeshiva.
Today Lakewood News Network (The GOOD Lakewood news page) broke the news that a contract has been signed for developing the Flea Market site. Their press release claims 166 NEW housing units will be constructed on the property.

Paula Zygmaniak Weber got hit by one a few years back. My husband was driving my car and he was stopped at a stop sign. They tboned us and tried to act like it was our fault. About 10 people were in their minivan- way too many for the size. Luckily for us there were cameras, and they had to pay. They’ll try anything to scam people!!

From the Route 70 Flea Market …..There is no validity to the reports from Ocean County Scanner News about the Flea Market shutting down. What they are “reporting” is the same crap that was written in the 2015 Asbury Park Press article. Lakewood changed the zoning and approved for the condos to be built on the property back in 2015. The State has since denied the development. One day the powers that be will force us out of Lakewood, but today is not that day!

Update: Management says NO new sales have occurred and the market is here to stay. At one point there were formal plans filed to develop the property, but perhaps they fell through?
