MANCHESTER – Police are asking Whiting residents who live near the Wells Fargo Bank on Route 530 to review and share any home surveillance footage taken from 4-5 p.m. April 9.

An unidentified white male fled the area on foot after robbing the bank. He was described as being about 6 feet tall, average build. He was wearing a black mask, black gloves, sunglasses, black baseball cap and dark colored sweatshirt.

Bank employees had activated their hold-up alarm around 4:35 p.m. While Manchester Township Police were en route, the man fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Bank employees said the man didn’t use force and didn’t show a weapon.

Police cordoned off the area and used their K-9 officers during the search. Also joining them were Ocean County Sheriff’s officers and special agents from the FBI’s Red Bank office.

The man is still at large.
