LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP POLICE SERGEANT ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH TWO COUNTS OF ILLEGAL COMPUTER CRIMINAL ACTIVITY

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced the arrest of Sergeant Gerard Traynor, today, April 1, 2019.  Traynor is employed by the Long Beach Township Police Department. Traynor, age 52, has addresses in both Beach Haven and Galloway Township is also a practicing attorney, has been charged with two counts of Computer Criminal Activity in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-25c.

An extensive investigation by the Internal Affairs Unit of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Long Beach Township Police Department revealed that Traynor accessed secure computer based information for personal reasons, rather than law enforcement purposes. Chief Anthony Deely of the Long Beach Township Police Department suspended Traynor pending a conclusion of the criminal matter.  Traynor was released on a summons pending a further court date.
