OCSN17 took a field trip today to see if the construction on Route 166 had been completed.
We had a report early this morning that all construction barriers along the road had been removed. The paving operation for both north and southbound lanes seems to have finished, with no major equipment to be seen in the proximity.
However, while the issue of construction has seemingly been resolved, the bane of commuter’s existence remains at large.
Traffic.
As well as merging from the Route 37 circle on to Route 166.
The concrete divider has been completed.
OCSN17 also reported that drivers near the intersection of Highland Parkway have bailed out of the right lane to ride the left lane and then use their signals to cut back into the line they just deserted. While the driver would wait to be let in, traffic would pile up behind them.
What do you think about the project overall? Will the congestion ever end or are we doomed to just grin and bear it?

That road is still in rough conditions. You can’t tell me they are done paving that road .

Jessi Smith Schach yup. I came off parkway and make that uturn, I sat for 7 lights, meanwhile having our own lane to cross over…. maybe 2 or 3 cars making it thru light. Traffic is backed up into town!
Just there No construction all lanes open and I believe the traffic light is now a little weird from Highland Parkway to the intersection I sat there for almost 7 cycles of that light it changes so fast you can’t barely got across the highway before turning red
They better fix those lights, only lets 3 cars cross 37 before it changes to yellow. Traffic backed up both ways. Terrible, felt like i was in new york traffic
Yes I was there today at 7.30 am . Only 4 to 5 cars could get threw the light

Now if they could come out and adjust the traffic lights. Am making uturn off of route 37 to cross over to 166…. and have sat thru 5 lights, 4 cars make it thru light. A mess!!!!

Paving – not done! Oh and it’s super fab to have 3 lanes go straight, but if you are the poor soul who needs to make a uturn back down rt 37 you have to make you way across the 3 lanes that go straight. And then those going straight across coming from town… 3 lanes, then the 2 right lanes are suddenly forced into one. 2 years – and it’s worse than b4 they started.
Super awesome idea to not make that a 2 laned jughandle…. not to mention everything else that is still horrific at that intersection. Another win for the garden state ?
