JACKSON – Police are looking for a man wanted from a vehicular pursuit after evading Jackson Officers at 100 mph on March 16.
At approximately 12:23 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to East Commodore Boulevard for a report of a disturbance involving a man and woman in the parking lot of the Willow Point Complex. On the way to the scene, officers were informed that the man had left the complex in a 2010 Toyota.
Shortly after, Police Officer Matt Roth found the Toyota on South Cooksbridge Road. A vehicle pursuit ensued after Officer Roth confirmed that it was the involved vehicle.
Officer Roth “activated his patrol unit’s emergency lights to initiate a motor vehicle stop with it. Instead of pulling over for the officer, the driver sped up, disregarding the patrol unit’s emergency lights and siren,” stated police.
The Toyota fled from Officer Roth, reaching 100 miles per hour, passing other cars on the road over the double yellow line, police said.
After the Toyota turned onto New Central Avenue and crossed Hope Chapel Road into Lakewood, the pursuit was terminated.
Despite his escape, officers managed to identify the Toyota’s driver as 20-year old Larry Crippen. Crippen has addresses in Jackson and Lakewood and an outstanding warrant out of Ocean County.
Crippen has been charged with eluding (2nd degree), hindering apprehension, unlawful taking of means of conveyance on a complaint warrant, speeding, driving while suspended, reckless driving and multiple other traffic offenses.
