At police hq? Wow
probably was arrested after he used
Shar Fry doubt it
He doing dope at the PD….these kids on next level stupidity..
Every day a post like this ?♀️ smh
Sheri Pelkey I literally just said that in my head! Dam
Sheri Pelkey just what i was thinking too! At least once a day sometimes even more!
Kelly Harris I’ve heard how bad it is in Ocean County and this is proof. ?
Give them narcan and then put them in jail
WTF is wrong with parenting today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Niel Schurig parenting?
Yes, people raise kids and aren’t involved. How can you not know your kid has a problem. If you don’t know, you are the problem.
Blame the world, the dems, gop, Russians , the times, video games, what ever you can come up with. It’s all bullshit it comes down to real parenting and yes this has been diluted by the society and the way parents are being told how to parent. You have no argument my friend. Everybody gets a reward even if you are a looser. Don’t build up that looser just say it will be ok. Kids need to be molded ,unfortunately the new generation of parents don’t have the skill set. Just sayin. Terry I hope that I didn’t offend you and just enlighten you.
I’m a stay home mom with a teen, I am very involved BUT I still worry ,talk, harp on it and PRAY everyday that he NEVER gets involved in this!!! Its horrifying!!! Smh
Niel Schurig I’m a recovering addict and my mom was literally the BEST and most involved parent ever. “Parenting skills” have nothing to do with it.. Unless the parent is literally giving drugs to their kid or doing it with them, it has NOTHING to do with them. HOW, pray tell, is it the parents fault?
Brittany Gonzalez keep on the recovery. Don’t even listen to some of these people. I had a sub human tell me off last night. Alcoholism and drugs run in our family. I beat it. You stay strong ?
Niel Schurig loser *** not looser. And some addicts come from great parents ..
Dude ? He’s a 28 year old man.
uhm no…..
Lynette Wright Hennelly good for you, for beating it! I’ll have 2 years clean next month, and my mom is to thank FOR THAT, not for me becoming an addict ? People need to educate themselves before opening their mouths about stuff that they’re lucky enough not to know about firsthand.
Niel Schurig Lol. I’m thinking when the person is 40’s or 50’s it has zero to do with the parents
Niel Schurig the person is 28
Niel Schurig you don’t have a clue
Niel Schurig bullshit
Niel Schurig you are clueless. I will pray that you never have a child and lose them to addiction. Never say never. You are one of those people that say…”oh my child will never do that.” I brought my son up well. You can teach and preach all you want about what drugs will do to you…but if they have an opportunity and they take it, it’s not the parents fault. I preached and taught..and I still lost my son to these fucking drugs. And it wasnt herion either. So before you open your ignorant yap…know what your talking about. Stunod….
Pamela Zboray you preach it Mama! I so feel for you and often wonder how you get through it. He’s clueless, until it happens to him. XOXO
How old he is now has nothing to do with what Niel is saying.. alot of people spend their whole lives with endless struggles that originated from poor parenting..cmon, u cant tell me u dont notice the severe decline in basically everything about people..and indeed alot of it is from raising self entitled kids with the whole “imma give my kid everything I didn’t have mentality”. Go you, you gave em what u didn’t have, but u raised an entitled, Unappreciative, incapable person.
prayers for him
No one cares anymore about overdoses. They don’t pay for the narcan and they don’t go to jail to pay because it’s illegal. We grow up in school being told it’s bad and harmful for your body. But taxpayer’s have to pay for it. Take the EMS and policeman from helping out other citizens. It’s bullshit now.
Junkies getting bolder and more brave now-fucking OD’ing literally at police HQ? Just wow.
Junkies are making big pharma insanely rich with Narcan. This week alone in South Jersey there were 5.
BUILD A WALL AND GIVE DEATH TO THE DEALERS
I guess those with their comments about “just another junkie” are blessed to not have it happen in their family. Thank God for that.
Some of you would be utterly shocked to realize how many professional folks or those you would least expect use.
EMS and the police are here to save lives not watch them die.
It should show you how bad the heroin epidemic is, which was also pushed along by the opioids being pushed by doctors.
Annette Crawford Hall, I love those out there who say this would never happen in their families
Just wait…..
Annette Crawford Hall but see ,that’s where you’re wrong. You always assume this. But maybe just maybe we have junkies in our families that have broken the family apart . Junkies that have stolen from their own grandparents. Don’t ASSume what you don’t know
Tracy Sutton I know!
Annette Crawford Hall then the junkie or family should pay for the narcan. Also, the junkie should be placed in jail for having an illegal substance. You see more happen with marijuana and jail than heroine or meth.
Maybe the person went there for help? I read a while ago that addicts can go I to certain police stations in NJ and ask for help with addiction services and they send them to rehab.
Denise Desiree Capizzo Stewart
Yes that’s a new program launched last year
Ocean County Scanner News I hope people are willing to utilize it.
Awe hope it wasn’t the guy moving there asking for a doctor in Ocean County that prescribed subs and was having difficulty getting that secured 🙁 Be kind you dont know the suffering until you been through it with a loved one.
I think the attached photo is inappropriate and I am sure the BPD will do everything they can to help this man.
Helen Peluso, although it’s not easy on the eyes, I think the photo drives the point home. I showed it to my teen daughters and they said “Jesus” and “Ewwwww.” Teens don’t generally listen all the time to their parents, they are all about “it won’t happen to me” and their brains (the risk taking part included) are not yet fully developed. If showing this pic to my kids upsets them enough to NOT try it… well then thank God for the pic.
Nancy Cavanaugh I definitely see your point. But, I object to the use of a black person in the picture. It left me feeling uncomfortable.
Helen I didn’t even notice black person. I was focused on the needle.
Helen Peluso who cares what color they are they are still people! WTH Black or white they are addicts!
Tess Theresa Holzman Perlman I suppose we all care about people even if they are addicts and we hope they get the help they need. I don’t think the attached photo, which appears to be a stock photo, was appropriate. I think it plays into prejudices in a not so subtle manner. I understand photos for news items. They catch the eye. But pictures are powerful and carry messages. That’s their purpose. I think they should be chosen carefully and with sensitivity. Ocean County Scanner is a “News and Media” website. I just believe they could have done better.
Addicts come in all forms, class, gender, social status, color, religion.
Ocean County Scanner News They do. That’s why it is important to work hard not to imply, even with the most vague implication, any particular class, gender, social status , race, or religion. I trust that you recognize that and will be vigilant in your selection of images to headline your articles.
Helen Peluso So if the person in the picture was white or hispanic you wouldnt have had a problem with it? We are talking about addiction which is not race specific. Concern yourself with the problem at hand. Unbelievable!
Thank you for asking and emphatically YES. I would. Very much so. And I am extremely concerned and more than a little familiar with the issues of addiction. I am also concerned with messaging and imaging as it relates to racial, ethnic and gender bias. I had a long discussion with OCSN yesterday about my concern with their choice. And they responded with their point of view. It was a good conversation with no blaming or accusations.
Let’s hope this man is OK and now receiving the treatment he needs.
FYI- Our family members who are suffering from addiction can now walk into the police station to ask for help! They will not be denied. Police are now front line to getting them into necessary treatment. Ocean County is responding to this situation that is nationwide ? He will not be punished or arrested. He will get help!
