Parents Of Autistic Children (or POAC) is an organization near and dear to my heart. When my wife and I had questions about our son, suspicions that something just wasn’t the same with him as with other kids, POAC provided help.
They provided a sounding board, a friendly ear, and a place for us to talk. Other parents with similar struggles helped us come to terms with what was then a fear, and since came to a reality.
The fear, and now reality, that our son, our NinjaBaby as we call him, now matter how awesome, was on the Autism Spectrum.

POAC considers everyone Family, and does their best to make you always feel welcome. They provide events for the community as well as travelling not only NJ but across the US providing training for First Responders on how to best serve a community with an ever expanding population on the Autism Spectrum.
Every year, POAC does a series of walks, these “walk for a difference” events and they are the primary source of funds for all the great free events and services that the autism community so desperately counts on. Programs like free training for parents and educators, free recreational and support services to children and adults with autism and their families, and free training for police and first responders are making a true and lasting impact.

Words like awareness and acceptance are just that, words, unless they are connected to actions – actions that can truly make a difference. By walking with POAC, you are a part of that difference. You are a part of that impact. Because of your actions, thousands of police and first responders will be trained this year and lives will be saved. Because of your actions, thousands of NJ students will learn about autism and the importance of friendship. Because of your actions thousands of hours of free training will be available for parents and educators throughout our state. Because of your actions, thousands of children and adults with autism and their families will participate in recreational events they might never even thought about trying.
Take action. Take the first step. Walk with us and make a difference, make life better for all those with autism.
