Officers are currently searching for a subject in the areas of Plumsted, McGuire, New Egypt and Jackson. The subject is likely armed. We heard talk of “two pistols” and “at gunpoint” but we are not sure exactly sure what is going on.

We have heard further reports of a barricaded subject and OCSD and NJSP have setup a command post.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department is requesting the public use caution in the area due to a heavy police presence.

“Shot fired” came over the radio just after 1:00pm.

Officers appear to be checking residential areas. Dogs are on scene and they will begin a search using dogs shortly.

The area they are searching seems to be bordered by Inman Rd, Long Swamp Rd, Carter Ln and Brynmore Rd – as of a few mins ago they were pushing towards Brynmor with their search and focusing on that area.

Police are continuing to knock on doors in the area, to let residents know what is happening.

It was heard over the radio that the subject was 31 year old male, Nicholas Markee* – This call started as a “domestic”.

Officers are advised to keep their eyes on the other side also, as there is a chance the subject made it out of the perimeter.

Officers are being ordered to do a linear search along the road perimeter. Officers are advised to not approach or make contact with the subject if they see him, and to just keep eyes on him.

Burlington County units have called in asking if their K9 was needed to assist.

Officers have just been asked to start a door by door sweep. They will stop and knock on doors, interview occupants, ask if anyone has seen anything, and then record the address so that they don’t double up.

The subject was located and secured behind 17 carter Ln. He is currently unarmed, the guns are “somewhere in the area”.

Officers are searching for the weapons, subject is ready for transport.

All outside units that were holding have been sent 10-7.

Weapon search has been been directed to search “50 to 100 yards before the treefarm”

* An earlier version of this post, listed the suspect as Nicolas Marquee instead of Nicolas Markee – We are sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
