During a controlled burn on March 19, 2018, a New Jersey Forest Fire Service District Warden found human remains in a wooded area in Jackson, New Jersey.
A comprehensive multi agency investigation was conducted by numerous law enforcement officers and the remains were identified as Cody MacPhearson.
The investigation showed that Alan McGinnis murdered MacPhearson by stabbing him in the neck and chest at a residence in Pemberton Township on September 24th, 2017.
On Febuary 1st, 2019 it was announced by Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer that Alan McGinnis was sentenced to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison for the First Degree Murder of Cody MacPhearson. It was also ordered that McGinnis will be required to serve all 30 years of his sentence.
During his admission of guilt before the Court on December 10th, 2018 McGinnis further admitted to placing Mr. MacPhearson’s body into the trunk of a vehicle and then dumping his body in a wooded area.
Charges were first filed on April 28th, 2018
Prosecutor Billhimer praised all involved, including Chief Trial Attorney for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office – Michael Weatherstone – as well as Assistant Prosecutor Alyssa Mandara for their diligent efforts in prosecuting Alan McGinness for the murder of Cody McPherson.
Don’t comment, or you will also receive harassing messages from one of the accomplices that got away with it
Rich Gregg not surprised. They should be locked up too. Family is trash.
So why is this news now
Because he was just sentenced? To 30 years with no parole…
Because an investigation in a case such as this takes time. The fact that the remains were found in March 2018 and the murderer was found and sentenced in early 2019 is actually pretty damn good.
Are the rest of the scumbags that helped him joining him??
enjoy your 30 years with bubba…im sure you 2 will be very happy.
Wow… Terrible.
America = death pentaly. !! Families of the victims should be able to take care the guilty.
Good work by all involved.
