TOMS RIVER – Amid a federal criminal indictment on tax & fraud charges, embattled Ocean County Republican Chairman George Gilmore is selling his Clinton Avenue home and other properties
Gilmore, whose lawyer has claimed that he has a hoarding disorder in his defense, is facing the fight of his life, as he seeks maintain his freedom and political power as New Jersey’s most influential county GOP chair.

Now, the chairman’s next move is to unload more of his properties, as he prepares to face off against the U.S. Justice Department in federal court. The latest one to go will be one of the chairman’s homes in Toms River, located at 490 Clinton Avenue.
According to county real estate records, as of January 18th Gilmore and his wife Joanne will be transferring the Clinton Ave. property to Brian and Julia Gilmore, presumably relatives of the chairman, according to a copy of a real estate settlement notice on file with the Ocean County Clerk’s Office.

At the end of this past October, the chairman filed another another notice of real estate settlement with declaring his intent to sell his 8 Grand Avenue property in Toms River to the Milner family.
His previous attempt to sell the Grand Avenue residence in 2017 was unsuccessful. That deal fell through, as no deed was recorded transferring ownership of the property. County real estate records revealed that a deed has yet to be recorded for this sale, either.
Notices of real estate settlement are documents filed with county real estate officials prior to the closing of a sale indicating the intention of the parties to enter into a contract for the sale of the property. Until a deed is signed transferring ownership, nothing is final.
But still who does having a hoarding problem justify not pay over a million dollars in taxes?
Hoarding all that cash yup. Not an excuse.
