Why do they keep having full divert??
I understand what divert means, but like someone else said it’s been happening there a lot lately.. was just wondering why ??♀️
Toni-Marie Mack it’s not just there but a lot of people are getting sick or injured so they can only handle so many patients and they only have so many beds. If it’s minor go to an immediate care.
Y does this keep happening there. I’ve read the same thing like 3 times in a month
Because the hospital reaches capacity and there’s only so many places to put people.. its flu season. Plus.. a lot of the people clogging up the ER would be better off at urgent care or their primary doctor..

Because some times people go to the er for things that can be taken care of at an urgent care.
That, plus it’s flu season.

Kim Shirley Perlstein there are a lot of senior citizens in that area too. Not saying that they are the cause of it but they do end up getting sick a lot more often especially this time of year.
Its just crazy how its always that hospital and not other. I guess its a very all hospital
Remember pt pleasant and the local area’s like Baghdad n wall don’t have a local hospital
Bay head****
OMC doesn’t have a lot of beds. Nicer rooms, but less beds.
They get busy….cant take more patients.Probably happens alot, just never posted.
What’s that mean divert?
I’ve been wanting to know that, too.
It means they will send ambulances and patients to another local hospital.
Dictionary. Lol
Divert means ambulances can’t go to ocean medical center- they’re full to capacity so they have to go to another hospital.

Sharon Lynn Huber …that makes sense! Its easier to ask and let others do the work for you!
It means ambulances are diverting to different hospitals, they can’t turn people away that walk through the door.
Melanie divert is a courtesy to our patients. If my patient is insistent on going to Brick hospital I have to take them there. A hospital can not turn a patient away weather they come in by ambulance or they walk in.
They can’t turn anyone away
They can’t turn anyone away
Divert means ambulances take patients to another hospital as OMC is at full capacity.

Divert occurs when there are too many ER “holding” patients and no beds available for those patients in the hospital. A patient can only be an ER Hold for 18 hours, then they must be moved to a floor bed. We are in flu season, and OMC is busy.

Oh wow. Well tell them not to go to cmc
Kimmy Lou
It’s not staffing, it’s beds. They only have so many beds in the ER. It’s flu season. It happens every year.
It’s because no one wants to do go to Comedy Medical….
You’re correct about that.
Exactly it’s Jersey shore was always my 1st choice and than brick…no cmc for me…too many issues and misdiagnoses
Trisha Stevens Katz they misdiagnosed me twice ! My god damn bladder could have exploded I was so backed up from a kidney stone! They told me it was just a bladder infection…
AGAIN??
Mariann DelleVirginia Wesp always the day after New Years
People wait to get care then show up far sicker then if they had not been so stupid as to try and ride out the holidays at home
Oh geez
Wow..this has been alot the last month
More people need to go to the rte 88 location for lesser emergencies. Anything where you need to see a Dr. but don’t new to be admitted.
OMC ER is for more serious situations….
Go to one of the many walk ins unless its a TRUE emergency!!! There are so many and most open late hours! The flu does not require the ER!
Jackie Vassallo it does for people with other medical conditions. If my son or i had flu symptoms we would go straight to the E.R. The flu poses serious risks for both of us we both have severe asthma and i have an extremely weak immune system due to being a preemie.
Okay, Amy, so there’s an exception for everything. The flu can’t be cured with antibiotics, so Tamiflu from an urgent care is sufficient 90% of the time. (10% may need iv fluids).
When my mom was in stage 4 COPD she went by ambulance to Ocean Medical Center a few times because she was truly turning blue & could not breathe. Meanwhile, there were young children, plus their siblings & parents, in the waiting room with coughs or diarrhea, or other minor ailments. Now THAT is a waste of beds and resources.
Amy Plummer I understand there will always be exceptions but I do believe the majority if people in the ER do not need to be there.
Stop going to the ER for illnesses that can be handled at an urgent care. Flu symptoms…. urgent care. Heart attack….. ER.
Roberta Fuchs it’s this bad!
Luanne LaRocca-Fernandes
Rui Fernandes
Zombie apocalypse!
You do know they still go
Sanitation, wash your hands, cover your cough! Get the flu shot! Stop sending kids to school sick. Just simple steps
Joe Reid I totally agree. Don’t go to work sick either A lot of parents send their kid loaded up with Tylenol cause they don’t want yo miss work. Then few hrs it wears off and the kid feels miserable. And there is the spreading of their germs. School is their babysitter.
I mean i get this day in age to take time off of work, cause we all now we gotta work to pay bills! But then again there comes a time to be a parent n leave them home, and leave yourself home or spouse with them. All your doing is risking the spread of germs ! Also another thing i see everywhere is you better buddle up or you’ll get sick, such bs cause you dont sick from the cold u get sick from germs
Cuz they keep most people too long, they are greedy
There’s someone there right now I know with aspergillosis. Thank God she’s in (in Brick)
Maybe they should stop giving discounts to the uninsured people. They leave with the same bill that I do after my insurance pays them thousands. They go to a Walkin they have to pay they go to ER they don’t pay
Uh oh
Again today
