TOMS RIVER – A late-morning fire Thursday destroyed an East Rolling Hills home and took the lives of four beloved family pets trapped inside.
The home belonged to the Golembeski and Hollingsworth families, a family of dedicated township volunteers: Toms River First Aid Capt. Alyssa Golembeski; her sister and firefighter/EMT Ashley Hollingsworth, president elect of that squad and volunteer with Toms River Fire Company No. 2; their mother and EMT Christine Golembeski; and their aunt, grandmother, and 11-year-old cousin.
The fire claimed the lives of two pet birds, a pet rabbit and one family dog.
According to the Toms River First Aid Squad, the family “lost everything except for the clothes on their backs, two weeks before Christmas.”
this fire was their own fault. Being in the field especially. who leaves a space heater unattended in the first place. They killed 4 animals and endangered their neighbors homes too. the person who left the heater is the reason they had this horrific fire. My heart goes out to the poor animals who may have died a horrific death. And then they have a go fund me page???
Space heaters are notorious for fires ??
Really? They just lost everything over an accident that could happen to anyone…
Ever leave the coffee pot on in a rush to get out the door?
Anything can happen to anyone. All it takes is a minute of inattentiveness.
Oh geez…What a horrific death for those poor pets ??
I am so terribly sorry for the loss of your beloved pets and this tragedy
I heard about what happened , I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your pets , my heart goes out to you
