If you’ve lived or traveled on 37 between Vaughn and Fischer during the rain; you know how bad it floods. Today was the day they finished up the natural drains.

Today I saw state workers in the median, and we learned they’re fixing the problematic drainage issues on this stretch. I mean it’s only been 25 years of massive flooding during downpours. The storm drains don’t work, as I saw them but nobody is messing with them.

Instead, they’re using sloped cut outs in the curb in the median to attract water. Water will leave the roadway, and drain to the median where they were spreading hay. Apparently someone thinks this will work, and we’ve invested time and money into it. Until next time it rains, we will keep our rain boots in the car.
