LAKEWOOD – A 20-year-old Township woman was treated for minor injuries after a man broke into her car and drove off. She managed to escape while the car was moving.

Lakewood Township Police spoke to the woman around 1 a.m. Wednesday at Monmouth Medical Center’s Southern Campus in Lakewood, shortly after the alleged incident took place, Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.

The woman said she was sitting in her silver 2018 Hyundai Sonata at Route 9 and Liberty Drive around midnight. An unidentified man—6-foot, blonde hair—approached the car to ask for directions.

The man then began to beat on the driver’s side window until he broke it. He entered the vehicle and pushed the woman into the passenger seat. She escaped the car while the man began to drive off.

The man drove off in an unknown direction.
