On October 18, 2022, Tevon Gray, Age 29 of Long Branch, NJ was charged by Ptl. Joseph Disko with Abandoning a Domesticated Animal with No Care and Failure to Provide Care for a Domesticated Animal; both charges are disorderly persons offenses in the State of New Jersey.
Ptl. Disko is the department’s Humane Law Enforcement Officer and conducts initial and follow up investigations into animal cruelty and abuse cases within the Township of Holmdel. Ptl. Disko’s investigation revealed that on October 13, 2022 at about 3:00 PM, Tevon Gray did willfully abandon his three-year-old female Rottweiler in the upper parking lot of Holmdel Park. She was eventually located by the Park Rangers, turned over to the police department, and transported to the SPCA for care, where Dallas (as she has been named) is still residing.
Ptl. Disko was assisted in his investigation by Monmouth County SPCA Chief Michael Goldfarb.
A conviction for disorderly persons offense carries a maximum possible sentence of up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
