On the night of August 27, Asbury Park Police Department Sergeant Michael Boone and Officer Andrew Slinger responded to a call for a person in crisis. The person was threatening to harm themselves.

Thanks to the actions of Sgt. Boone and Officer Slinger, they were able to talk to the person and resolve the incident peacefully.

Sgt. Boone, who had only months earlier been part of a recent Prosecutor’s Office Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training, used the lessons that he learned in that training to successfully assist the person in distress.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Sgt. Michael Boone and Officer Andrew Slinger, who should be commended for their dedication and perseverance.
