Hello friends- we wanted to share a quick update here so everyone learns to contain themselves. As we stated before; Ocean County Scanner News is ONLY responsible for OCSN and Monmouth County Scanner News on Facebook and Instagram. MCSN is not currently active, so that means we focus our attention on OCSN right now. We do maintain a staff of 3-4 volunteers who post news for fun- along with 2 other actual interns who are training. Since we are volunteers- we make no profit from this news operation; and the minuscule income we earn based off advertising revenue (Google Ads) goes to paying the fees associated with our own web servers. We do all this for FUN- we acknowledge we are not a “professional” news outlet, but our information is always factual, timely & accurate. Those looking for proper news can check Asbury Park Press about 3 days later for the story. Our staff enjoys keeping the community informed about stories we hear on the scanner that are worthy, press releases, and other community events.

OCSN is more than just a Facebook gossip page- we maintain & own our own website @ www.ocsn.news (along with servers). We began in July 2013 and have achieved success that rivals professional large metropolitan news outlets at our peak over the 9 years of service. At one time we had a staff of 7+ volunteers, but 3 of them left OCSN to begin other pages. Jersey Coast Emergency News, Jersey Sure News, and the various GSP “Exit Scanner” pages are NOT under our control, but some of those “reporters” have worked with us previously.

We rely on the public to send in images (pictures/video) via our tip line, email, Facebook comments, or page messages. OCSN is permitted to freely use anything user-submitted as per our page terms and conditions clearly dictate. Should anyone who sends us in any media wish for photo credit- they simply need to request such as they submit and/or post. In the event we do use an incorrect image, we redact and/or issue a correction (citation). We have never used Google maps, images, or any other page’s media as we maintain our own library of 50,000+ stock images. Other pages have stolen our images, which is why we now watermark ours. Don’t worry- we have all the evidence should you doubt us 🙂

Finally, we will no longer engage on back-and-forth dialogue with other biased media outlets as OCSN tries to remain neutral. Our page strives to be moderate because both democrats and republicans suck lately- and we support solely the candidate who actually isn’t crap. You can go back over 9 years and see how we never or seldomly share our political views- nor demean others for having differing opinions. Some staff members who no longer are a part of OCSN, have made some pretty disgusting comments regarding the LGBTQ+ community- publicly and privately. OCSN chooses not to criticize others for varying political beliefs or their life choices. We have been and will remain neutral and inclusive of everyone.
