Bordentown Police Chief Brian Pesce has been charged with drunk driving after being involved in a crash in Mercer County, where police allege he left the scene and did no report the incident, court records show.

The incident occurred on Friday, April 22, 2022 at approximately 10:25 pm at the intersection of Bruin Drive and Terrapin Lane. Chief Pesce was driving a maroon pick up truck.

No information is available with respect to the property damaged in the crash.

Pesce was a police officer in Bordentown for 23 years and worked his way up to chief in 2018. He is charged with five traffic offenses for the night of the crash in Hamilton’s University Heights neighborhood. The offenses are: Reckless and careless driving, drunk driving, leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage and failing to report an accident.

The township administrator of Bordentown, Michael Theokas, said the town is aware of Pesce’s charges.

“At this time, Chief Pesce has been placed on restrictive duty until further notice pending the investigation results. The township has no further comments at this time.”
