On April 4 2022 the Center for Disease Control, the US Food and Drug Administration, along with the Public Health Agency of Cananda and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, as well as states involved, are investing a multi state  breakout of norovirus believed to be linked to raw oysters from British Columbia.  The FDA has advised restaurants and retailers not to serve or sell potentially contaminated raw oysters from Cananda.

The investigation at this time remains active with 91 cases reported to the CDC as of April 4, 2022.  The states effected are:  CA, CO, FL, HI, IL, MA, MN, NJ, NV, NY, OR, TX and WA.  At this time there is no recall in effect. 

Symptoms of norovirus:

  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Stomach Pain
  • Symptoms will typically start 12-48 hours after exposure and most people will recover within 1-3 days.
  • There is a strong risk of dehydration
