BRICK: Capri Institute in Brick closed their doors suddenly last week leaving many students, and teachers confused. Capri has closed a few schools along the east coast permanently, and announced they are closing the Brick school for 30 days last week. Students are being told their transcripts won’t be signed off to allow transfer, and teachers are saying they haven’t been paid. Sarah Lavroff said in a Facebook post “I began my Skin Care Specialty licensing program at CAPRI Institute in September. This past week, the school said they would be “temporarily closing” the school for 30 days, yet the teachers haven’t been paid for 2 weeks. They gave us unofficial transcripts for the hours we have logged, that other schools will not accept because they are not signed or stamped. Capri Institute Cosmetology Training Centers refused to give us these signed and stamped when I went there yesterday. I also was requesting my signed contract which they refused to release, until they called the Brick Township Police Department on us and they told them they needed to release the contracts. Since they claim they are “temporarily closing” we are also unable to use any financial aid elsewhere, unless we ourselves withdraw from the program. Capri Institute is also still accepting students with the false claim that they are closed for COVID. This is pushing back me reaching my graduation and they can continue to extend this closure. I just want everyone to be aware of this criminal company and if you have any advice as I feel I have no choices here but to wait or lose the eight thousand dollars that was paid to them in full and the time I put in for hours, like many other heart broken students.”
OCSN has reached out to Capri Institute and we are waiting for word back.
