County communications received a call from a suicide hotline . Informing them that a male subject ( name and description withheld by us ) was on the beach in Seaside Heights armed with a firearm who wanted to hurt themselves . County advised Seaside Heights police about the incident . Seaside police advised that there are about 100 people on the beach fishing at this time and it might be hard to find him . Police advised that they were responding and wanted all units to respond as quietly as possible . County advised that the subject had an address in Pine Beach and were sending units there to check for him also. Seaside police advised they could not find anyone matching subjects description in the area but were still looking . County was able to ping his cell phone and advised he was in Pine Beach area . Police units responded to the last known location given by County and could not find the subject in question . County then advised approximately 20-30 min later that they had spoken to the person of interest and he advised them that he was on Blaine ave. On the boardwalk and that he was armed with a pistol but did not want police to approach him or help at all and to be left alone then the call ended as per county communications . Seaside police continued to the last known area the subject had given and continued to look for him but were uneventful .At which time they made the decision to back off and give the subject some space just incase he was still in the area which they believed he was not but just incase . Approximately 20-30 minutes later County communication advised Seaside police that Ocean Gate pd were at the subjects residence and the vehicle matching his was there and were going to try to make contact with him . A short time later Ocean Gate pd advised they made contact with the male who was unarmed but stated he left the firearm at a undisclosed location .
