Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Sayreville Police Chief John Zebrowski announced on Tuesday night that 49 year old Barnegat resident Bruce  A. Cymanski, was indicted on first-degree murder, first-degree felony murder, first-degree aggravated sexual assault, first-degree kidnapping and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the killing of 17-year-old Nancy Noga.

Cymanski was arrested Tuesday near his home by members of the Sayreville Police Department, Barnegat Police Department, and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office after a foot pursuit.

Noga, a high school senior, went missing on Jan 7, 1999, when she didn’t come home after her shift at the Rag Shop on Route 9 in Old Bridge.Five days later her body was found in the woods behind the Mini-Mall Plaza Shopping Center on Ernston Road. An autopsy later found that Noga died from blunt force trauma.

In one of Middlesex County’s oldest cases (two decades) the case remained open. “The advancement of modern scientific tools has allowed that endeavor to enter a new chapter,”
