BRICK: On Wednesday, July 14th, at 8:15 P.M. Detectives of the Street Crimes Unit (SCU) observed a blue Honda CRV commit several motor vehicle violations, including littering, failing to maintain its lane of travel, and an equipment violation, while traveling eastbound on Drum Point Road. The vehicle pulled into the Wawa parking lot at 383 Drum Point Rd. Patrol Officers Bajor and Lanni arrived to assist with the motor vehicle stop. The driver was identified as Robert Trella Jr. (46 years old from Toms River) and the passenger as Crystal Rella (36 years old from Brick).

During the stop, Detectives suspected the presence of drugs in the vehicle and called for a K9. Crystal’s demeanor escalated to the point of yelling obscenities at the officers on scene. Her behavior caused a disturbance in the Wawa parking lot despite warnings from officers to calm down. Crystal was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct. Lakewood K9 Handler Dellevella and his K9 partner arrived to assist.

During the investigation Detectives observed Robert put something into his mouth. Believing Robert was attempting to destroy evidence, Officers began to place Robert under arrest and retrieve the evidence. Robert attempted to fight officers off but was eventually handcuffed and the evidence retrieved. The small package appeared to contain Methamphetamine.

After processing, Crystal was released on summonses charging her with littering and Disorderly Conduct.

Robert was also released on summonses charging him with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), drug paraphernalia, failure to turn over CDS, hindering apprehension, obstruction and criminal mischief. Robert also received summonses for the motor vehicle violations, including possession of a CDS in a motor vehicle.

On Monday, July 19th, the SCU conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Brick Blvd. and York Town Plaza. The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Clifton Tancemore, (38 years old from Brick). Tancemore had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Lavallette in the amount of $200.00. He was placed under arrest and transported to Brick PD. After posting bail he was released.

On Thursday, July 22nd, SCU Detectives were conducting surveillance of the Pleasure Zone when they observed suspicious activity in the parking lot. Keeping an eye on the vehicle, Detectives observed several motor vehicle infractions, and discovered that the vehicle was equipped with fictious license plates from Illinois. SCU Detectives stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Omar Aragon-Mendoza (44 years old from Lakewood). Aragon-Mendoza was arrested and charged with DWI. During the stop Detectives discovered a plastic bag containing a cocaine.

In addition to the DWI, Aragon-Mendoza was charged with possession of CDS and paraphernalia. He was also issued traffic summonses for Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test, Failure to Maintain Lane, Speeding, CDS in a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Provide a Driver’s License, Failure to Provide Insurance and Registration, Fictious License Plates, not wearing a seatbelt, Uninsured Motorist, Improper Passing, and Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License. Aragon-Mendoza was processed and lodged in the Ocean County Jail.

On Friday, July 23rd, SCU Detectives arrested Dajon Reid (30 years old from Brick). The arrest was the culmination of a two-week narcotics related investigation wherein Reid was suspected of distributing heroin. Reid was charged with distributing CDS, and possession of CDS and paraphernalia. An undisclosed sum of cash believed to be proceeds from the drug distribution was seized by Detectives, and Reid was lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
