NEWARK: City officials removed the statue of Christopher Columbus at Washington Park; and are beginning the steps of turning it into a Harriet Tubman memorial. Artist Nina Cooke John designed the memorial that will be erected in the Summer of 2022. Last week the city of Newark also put up a huge 700 pound statue of George Floyd in front of their city hall.
