TOMS RIVER: EMS is responding to an apartment in Jamestowne Village in reference to chest pains. Normally routine medical calls don’t interest us, but this call is for a 21 y/o male whom was experiencing chest pains. The patient allegedly walked to a local urgent care facility for help, and was turned away. The male patient tells dispatch the urgent care wouldn’t see him because he doesn’t have insurance. EMS is responding to transport him to CMC- where he legally has to be seen and treated. NJ Hospitals are legally required to treat and stabilize all patients- regardless of their ability to pay, or insurance situation.
