Esteemed New Jersey Governor Philip Dunton Murphy immediately issued a proclamation permitting houses of worship and religious services to operate at 50% capacity. He reminds everyone to of course wear [unspecified quantity] masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines. If this was 1517 at the beginning of The Reformation, Martin Luther would indeed be proud of things. Anyway, enjoy your religion everyone, everywhere in NJ- and stay safe! Remember, his executive orders are equal for all religions- not just the ones you all love to complain about.
GOVERNOR MURPHY: NEW: Effective immediately, houses of worship and religious services can operate at 50% capacity.
Masks required
Members of different households must be at least six feet apart at all times

Good, now tax them.
Ken Zagula
Churches deserve a certain tax-exempt status; but not necessarily a free pass to abuse. Churches should pay, or not pay taxes based off their contributions to their communities.
Ken Zagula do you have a purpose to your statement or a logical reason why *you believe * churches should be taxed?
To Ni Covering up abuse (not reporting crimes when they happen) and seemingly getting more involved in political opinions as of late. That’s just for starters.
What does that have to do with taxing? Churches are just normal human people. They can have political opinions. And you realize that Church is come in all sizes. And so do you 5013C organizations. So if you want those organizations to be taxed you need to think how far and wide that reaches. Most of these churches and organizations exist in the community to help the community they’re in. The money that comes in from the parishioners goes to helping their community. Now if all of these organizations are taxed then they don’t have the money to help their communities then they won’t be able to operate. So, when I asked for a logical reason, you gave me a couple examples that are not within the norm of an operating church or community organization. Trying to punish some for some exemptions that exist would do more harm than good to the vast majority of organizations that exist to help.
To Ni What does it have to do with taxing? Churches get their exempt status by agreeing to operate under a set of rules they must follow. When you cover up crimes, you are breaking the law, hence you should lose your exempt status. Tens of thousands of these incidents all over the US cannot be considered a fluke, more like a trend. And of course parishioners can have there own opinion on politics, it’s when the priests and church start voicing their opinion on WHO to vote for. That violates the whole Separation of Church and State.
Ken Zagula Again. You’re talking about one sect of the church. Not all churches are Catholic, not all churches are large, not all churches fall under some greater jurisdiction in another country, not all churches cause problems. So why should all churches be penalized for the improper actions? There are tens of thousands of churches in our country, and I agree not all of them are legit. And they should be punished, I completely agree with that. But the punishment should fit the crime. Simply taxing all churches is not going to stop what happens in those churches. It will only hurt the small community churches and organizations.
Scamdemic! Knew once presidents switched everything would start to reopen!
First of all he never closed them. Secondly, he doesn’t have any say over houses of worship. Thirdly, they’ve been open anyway. Any least my church has. Never closed once.
To Ni you’re lucky. The church I attended has been closed for almost a year. Online services only.
AmyRuss Brock I’m so sorry. ????
Considering everything is been either 0%-25%, that should be the % of tax we pay!!!!!!
