????????
drivers do not pay attention to pedestrians or even stop to let them cross I know i almost got hit twice in that lot
Jackie Presho and you also have the people that walk right in front of the car when it’s 3 feet in front of them
Joe Castano seems people have also forgotten to stop and look both ways before crossing. If you notice, the signs in parking lots say “yield to pedestrians IN cross”. It doesn’t say, “just start walking and be damned what’s coming. “
Jackie Presho The sign say yelled for pedestrians in cross walks people just walk right in front of moving cars wherever they want to
Joe Castano yield*
Jackie Presho it works both ways.. pedestrians don’t pay attention too
Pedestrians don’t realize that if they walk In front of my car and I hit them. I’m going to be fine. They’re going to be the ones going to the hospital. I get they have the right of way but some people just walk without looking thinking traffic will magically stop
Stephan Damato it’s the law to stop for pedestrians.
????
If the driver sees them you can’t assume
pedestrians have the right away. If you hit someone sure you may be fine but you’re probably gonna go to jail..
Stephan Damato LBI is the worst in the summer people don’t look at all. I honk at them ????
I get it’s the law to stop but are you willing to take the risk? This guy is 100% right. And it’s only the law to stop for a crosswalk btw
Lizz Carde at intersections and crosswalks…
I legit said in my comment that I know it’s the law to stop so no need to reiterate that fact. I’ll always wait until the driver makes eye contact with me and acknowledges me crossing before I step Infront of someone’s 3 thousand pound car. It’s rather foolproof as I’ve never been hit by a car. Rather be safe than rely on the fact that it’s “the law” and there for everyone will automatically stop
Lizz Carde some just walk without looking. I always stop but if I’m right there I react as quickly as possible.
maybe when people look before walking I to traffic, this would not happen
The mini van people will kill you.I almost got hit twice by scumbags swerving and speeding in Costco lot.
Lisa Arendt people drive like idiots there , always in a hurry
I wonder what “Yield to Pedestrians in Crosswalk” means?????????
Means nothing if you walk right out in front of a car. Pedestrians should also be responsible for their actions
That parking lot has always been a disaster. Hope the person is okay.
dont blame the people for not looking its not there job its YOUR job driving the car to look. They have the right away. you hit somebody, they can sue you and thet know it. People think so differently in jersey its not even funny. Stop cryin bout it, im from NY this is a normal thing people people just walking out i know better. there arent too many peds walking like this in central jersey it aint a city. so just know the rules and just pay attention
Danny Perotti
Danny Perotti yeah well, some dumb bastard steps out 6ft away from me driving through a lot at the posted speed limit? They have way too much faith in the maintence of that vehicle and someone’s reaction time in a 3000lb vehicle. Sorry, your body vs a vehicle, there’s only one loser, and if your walking you better be double vigilant.
Daniele Page Valenta jersey people smh sad.. cant argue its pointless. good day
Daniele Page Valenta in a shoprite parking lot for instance, the car has to stop for the person. i dont understand why people dont stop
Danny Perotti I agree. Everyone seems to be so preoccupied these days and nobody pays attention. People still need to look, you can’t just walk out and assume the driver sees them
????????
Pedestrians have some responsibilities as well.
People need to put cell phones down
Pedestrians have the right of way in a crosswalk not wherever they feel like walking. I hope the person is ok But seriously people these days just walk right into the roadway without looking.
Speeding & ignorance is rampant in that plaza!
The yield to pedestrian law is dangerous people just walk across without even looking because they assume the cars are going to stop. It’s still not hard to do what you learned in kindergarten is to look both ways before you cross but it seems all common sense is lost these days
If not obvious, it should be known that pedestrians have the right of way. But written rules don’t stop them from being broken. It’s like the safety measures we use on a job site. If you can’t see the machine operator’s eyes/face, don’t assume they can see you.
Happy ending ?
Cell phone addiction as usual.
Wow 4 people think its funny!!! God for bid it could have been one of your family members. Prayers that the person is ok.
Lori Gildersleeve I agree nothing funny about someone getting hit by a car
Benefit of the doubt?? I’d like to think those 4 ppl hit the wrong reaction button – I know I have by mistake before…it’s easy to do!
Alissa Stok ok benefit of the doubt. But really 4 people..whether it is accidentally or not i always check to see if I hit the right emoji
I almost got hit today too moran flew out his driveway never looked if he didn’t have a Loud car id be in the hospital and my pup would be dead stupid ass drives like a nut
My granddaughter and I saw the aftermath…..a pizza box laying on the curb….most likely where it landed after this poor man was hit…….
They may be laughing about the foot rub
Prayers
Not surprised. With the bs yield for pediatrician law preople think they can step into the roadway and cars will magically stop. LOOK WHERE YOU ARE GOING!
Meg Licata great…now we have special laws for children’s doctors!
Prayers ????????
Unfortunately that plaza is notorious for people speeding through that lot and I do stop and look both ways for that reason.
I love Facebook lawyers
Whatever happened it was tragic. Praying for the person who was struck and the person who struck them will likely be traumatized as well by the event.
Here’s the NJ pedestrian law if anyone cares to read it. Cars are required to yield at intersections and designated crosswalks. But pedestrian may not suddenly leave the curb either. Both drivers and pedestrians have responsibilities
