ATLANTIC CITY: Normally the Atlantic City Convention Center is bustling with fun shows this time of year. As we begin 2021, the world-famous convention center has been turned into a regional Covid-19 Vaccination Destination. No boat, car, trade, antique, or any kind of shows or concerts- just vaccines and needles on the marquee these days. NJ residents can register with their boards of health to schedule their two doses of the vaccine. When a vaccination slot is available, and the phase allows you to receive it- you will be notified. So far this is all voluntary, but you will be entered into a state database to keep records of your vaccine and dates administered.

Ocean County Scanner News shares one readers experience receiving the vaccine today at the Atlantic City Convention Center. Please read below:

I’m a 41 year old female who works in a school with medical conditions, and I arrived around 07:45. I was greeted in the parking garage, with both the vaccine and parking tariff being “free.” There was a small line outside, with the NJ National Guard being in charge and keeping order. They began admitting patients at 08:00, with my appointment for 08:30. Finally I went in at 08:15, got the shot at 08:25, and was escorted to a waiting area by 08:27. Patients are required to wait on premises under supervision of a medical professional for 15 minutes to monitor any immediate side effects and reactions from the vaccine. It was super organized and efficient- and I was back in my car by 08:45. The whole staff was awesome, and it was very well-run and efficient. I was in Group 1B for the vaccine rollout, and was home by 09:30. So far my only noticeable symptom is nausea. February 16 I’ll be back for my second dose.

Thank you to our brave friend for sharing, and stay safe everyone- as always! ❤️
