BERKELEY (Holiday City): Police and emergency personnel were on scene at a motor vehicle accident on Cabrillo in the city earlier today. The crash occurred near 57 Cabrillo, and resulted in one vehicle landing on its’ roof. Witnesses say they overheard the female driver indicate her brakes may have locked up. Nothing official to report at this time.
No further details regarding extent of injuries, or age/description of driver.

Misty Dakota for sure but considering we’re talking about holiday city.. a known adult community, it’s safe to assume the majority of people cruising through there on the daily are of age to live there. Just an assumption but youre right everyone drives crazy now a days. But many years ago there was a misconception about the rules in that community and what applies to the members of it.. some of them were under the impression that the stop signs in the area only applied to the outsiders. True story.

I’ve called the police many times for my street in holiday city these seniors are doing 40 mph to 50mph in a 25 mph zone they put one of those signs that shows your speed they do 25 but once they pass it it’s 40 mph had a cop stationed in one of the Side streets he caught a couple of people but the next day same shit called the police again they kept pulling him off post no one came back they still speed down my street I call this place Gods Waiting Room and they are killing themselves I have deer and some children on my block don’t want anything happening to them and how come when seniors drive in holiday city they speed but once they leave the drive like turtles

When I grew up there was only 1 (ONE) car that ever ended up like this. someone doing 100 on route 22!!! Now there’s several a month!!! SMH???!!!

Marlo Coddington- Lutz you’re probably way too young to remember. I only knew his first name, Bob. It was in the late 70’s (maybe very early 80’s). It was big news because no one did 100+ on route 22!! You know how it is with that middle area. I was more afraid of driving there than on the parkway as a new driver. Poor kid was a bit of an outcast, so ya know it was a sort of “bravado” thing to do. But cars only got T-boned back then, not turning over like now!! As well as all these vehicles running into homes!!
Kathleen Carlin I’m 52 now but have been out of Mountainside since I was 24. Parkway was definitely more safe than Rt 22. Many many deaths on that road. Those 22 middle aisle u turns were suicidal!!

This is when the kids of elderly residents need to step in and evaluate whether their parents are fit to drive or not. I did it two years ago. Had to take the car away. Not a popular decision, but my 91 year old Dad is still alive and safe, as well as the other drivers he would have encountered on the road.
