TOMS RIVER: In today’s follow up to yesterday’s wild crash on NJ 37 near GSP- hold onto your hats, friends! Avery Murch from New Hampshire, sideswiped another vehicle as they both attempted to exit the Garden State Parkway at Exit 82. While this crash is common at this interchange, mainly due to the outdated short-spaced cloverleaf ramp system- Mr. Murch allegedly crashed while drunk and with drugs. Then he tried to flee, but crashed into the underpass wall, while possessing a revoked license. Do read on as TRPD sent us the official press release below.
TOMS RIVER: On Tuesday, January 19th, 2021, at approximately 4:00 PM police units were dispatched to Route 37 eastbound, near the GSP South entrance ramp for reports of a motor vehicle accident and downed pole. Avery Murch, 25 of Weare NH, and Thomas Holl, 32 of Toms River, were both traveling south on the Garden State Parkway at the intersection of Route 37. Mr. Holl had entered the right lane to access the exit ramp as Mr. Murch, who was driving to the left of Mr. Holl, also attempted to access the right exit lane. In the process, Mr. Murch’s vehicle sideswiped Mr. Holl’s vehicle and then continued onto the exit ramp.
After reaching Route 37 W eastbound, Mr. Murch’s vehicle exited the roadway to the right and struck a curb, then continued off road and struck a street sign and a utility pole. Mr. Murch attempted to flee east on Route 37 but subsequently hit a cement wall under the overpass, causing his vehicle to become totally disabled.
Mr. Murch was exhibiting signs of impairment and was arrested and charged with DWI, and his vehicle was impounded as per John’s Law. Mr. Murch was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, Revoked Driver’s License, Failure to Report an Accident, Leaving the Scene of Property Damage, and Operating with Drugs in the Vehicle.
The accident is being investigated by Toms River Traffic Safety Officer Robert Westfall.

It’s crazy the amount of accidents that have happened, since the beginning of the year.

Every Day there’s something beyond a fender bender.
Ocean County Scanner News the real question that isn’t being asked. Why isn’t TRPD not stepping up traffic enforcement?
It is far better to be proactive than reactive when it comes to traffic safety.
RJ Delmont thats a real good question.
Ocean County Scanner News told you last night he couldn’t even stand on one foot for half a second. He was super drunk
RJ Delmont that’s State Police Jurisdiction actually
Toofey Mier you go tell Tom’s river pd that they can no longer pull people over on route 37, since its state police jurisdiction
Anthony John the exits are NJSP jurisdiction…
Toofey Mier what about the rest of Toms River? 37 and Hooper avenue are like the freakin Grand Prix???
RJ Delmont no those are trpd, speaking of the ramps is state police
Sigh. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Just sucks that he had to gamble with other lives other than his own
Told you so…

Why do people think it’s ok to drink and drive.
That was still closed off at 4:30 this morning. Heather O’rourke on channel 7 this’d morning first thing in the traffic report
Don’t blame the interchange. Blame the STUPID drivers that refuse to let the other go first
Walter Hertz Blame the Murch !
People coming over should speed up to get into traffic. People getting on parkway ramp should slow down to make the ramp. Not the the other way
Be nice. It was a Trump supporter. He has had a rough day.
Didn’t a drunk knock down a pole there yesterday?
Justin A Skorochod
Yes, this is yesterday’s full story. Pole, sign, curb, underpass, and innocent vehicle were all struck by a drunk.
Please stay in your home state and be an a**, dude. We have enough bad drivers of our own here. Thanks.
‘Live Free or Die’
Mr Murch should never have a drivers license again
