Ocean County Scanner News see this is what bothers me, and to be clear i lost someone VERY close to me from heroin, we need to not save them and let them walk, we need to save them and MAKE them go to rehab, i know most will go back to there old ways but if you could change a few its better than nothing, the law is on there side which obviously isnt working, its a shame a kid gets busted with a joint gets fines has years of probation and urine tests and if they fail a urine test they automatically get locked up for violation of probation, but you dont see the paramedics being called to bring them back to life cause they smoked to much weed…

And for all of you who are saying three strikes and your out, god forbid this happens to your loved one and they get called out three times to save them. This person wasn’t Narcaned multiple times but was unresponsive and required medical attention. Keep your opinionated comments to yourself, especially when you have no idea who the person is or what they have gone through. This person is someone’s child and sibling and dear friend. They love computers, helping others, and when they were little had an obsession with the American Flag (they thought it was the best thing they’ve ever seen.) they held my hand when my dad died, they were the first person to tell me everything was going to be okay. They loved doing flips and tricks off the pier into the water, and going to Linda’s for a slice of pizza! THEY ARE A HUMAN BEING WHO IS STILL ALIVE TODAY THANKS TO THE FIRST RESPONDERS BEING SO DILIGENT AND DOING THEIR JOBS AND NOT PLAYING GOD WITH THEIR OWN OPINIONS ON THE MATTER.

Cassidy Rose I had this happen to a loved one and if I could’ve done anything to help them I would’ve. Nobody wants to get a call that their loved one is unresponsive from this. Sadly, my loved one never had the chance to be administered Narcan to help save their life, like all the ODs nowadays. It’s sad but you have to realize you need help or it’s going to take your life. All it takes is 1 bad batch. 😭💔

Sad , but the fact is they are offered help every time they are Narcan and refuse to go into treatment. I have 2 siblings and a parent addicted to drugs and can’t help any one of them after a battle of 20 years of trying. At some point I had to save my own sanity after seeing my two sisters Narcan same night. We all feel sympathy for people but at some point they need to make a decision and at some point we also make decisions to save ourselves when we can no longer save others. Very sad but for the EMTs to administer time after time and keep bringing someone back to life is just as painful. There is offered help and they refuse it. That’s because they use and abuse Narcan and as crutch.
Cluck You what you’re not understanding is that they weren’t narcaned by the EMTs, not once.

If any if you ever tried to get someone into rehab, you would think differently. Also, rehab is not the answer. Insurance decides when they are ready to leave and cope with whatever demons they have, not the people caring for them.
Let’s not forget the upfront cost of rehab.
