I waited from 8pm 12/25 until 1am 12/26 for a nurse to forget about me, there were 10 people in ER waiting room, one man waiting from 2pm 12/25 still there when I walked out without getting any type of care..he was waiting for xray results..since 2pm
Frank Favocci Sounds about right
Frank Favocci there is no staff. All sick.
Frank Favocci and they take the sickest first. People go to the Er all the time for non emergent things that they can wait for their dr or go to urgent care. Unless they have no insurance…
Janet Brennan chest pains arent emergencies? Since when?
I never said that. Way to read out of context. But I did read you left without being seen. Did you go somewhere else? Or just home.
Janet Brennan I went elsewhere
Janet Brennan my point is, why would they make you wait 8+ hours for xray results vs sending you home then calling with the results, if you need to come back you can
Frank Favocci ER is not an outpatient lab facility. That’s not how they operate. It’s for emergent medical issues. If you are able to come in get a test, leave go home and wait without a care then it’s not emergent. The whole point of an ER is to have an actual emergency and be seen, have all medical tests done at the same time and get results that day. Then the choice of whether the condition is emergent enough after the results to be admitted for further care or be discharged to follow up at home. If an ER operated as an outpatient lab/imaging facility they would be bogged down more than we already are. I’m sorry you received poor care, but it’s very naive to have the idea that you should be able to just go home and wait for a call for results.
Sheryl Drumm thank you!!!
Frank Favocci you said chest pain. That WOULD NOT require an X-ray. That would require an ekg. And they do take chest pain seriously.
Janet Brennan i never said I had an Xray…
Frank Favocci then why state “why would they make you wait 8+ hours for X-ray results” and your original post is now edited. It is changed from the original post. You started out complaining about your experience, then conveniently changed it to include another persons experience. My point is, an er is for emergencies. If you had
Chest pain they would have immed taken you back and performed an ekg and stat blood work. You left. With chest pain.
Janet Brennan and without an EKG or blood work stat, i know how its supposed to work but it didnt work like that, i have about 10 people that will vouch for that in the waiting room
Frank Favocci about 4 years ago my dad was having a heart attack they made him wait hours he.kept telling them he had pain they did an ekg like real fast and made him wait. He kept saying his chest hurt. Their response was that there were other people in there who were worse than him. He waited so long he wound up leaving. The next day continued to have chest pain. Finally got a hold of his dr the next day. He went to brick hospital. My father was having a heart attack and they saved his life and put a stent in his heart. My father wound up with heart damage because they did not act. He had a 3 day heart attack and is lucky to be alive.
Kristen Lynn I’m sorry to hear this . My dad suffered a heart attack I. The emergency room . When they admitted him , staff was unaware he had the heartache and called codes to have the clot buster administered ASAP . Nurses told me that because I was just his daughter I wasn’t permitted to ask questions .
I wouldn’t bring my dog there
Alan Munger hopefully you never have an emergency
Donna Wileman Castellani hope not.
Alan Munger you have a dog?
Janice Martino-Masie obviously Janice you know I don’t but I had many and I wouldn’t bring my cat or my birds to that fucking hospital and I learned that from the majority of the people that live in toms River okay.my God
Alan Munger well it’s a good thing. Animals belong at the vet.
Janice Martino-Masie I was being sarcastic Janice..
Alan Munger I was being facetious…
Alan Munger we are using some BIG ass words… ????
Janice Martino-Masie. Yep and you could have just scroll past them all.Happy New Year… and my neighbors cookies were great. Instead of you saying what the hell is that…smh
Janice Martino-Masie shame on you. Hopefully we deleted it before they saw it.
Well there is a pandemic and if the upstairs is full than there is no room to take people out of the E.D. to move them upstairs..
Ed Tamburr exactly. No staff, all sick.
^what he said
Nurses never forget- they are working every single minute- walk in their shoes
Donna Wileman Castellani It is so sad that people do NOT realize how bad it is up on those floors. Its worse now than the spring.
Agreed. As a nurse i want to scream every time i see someone complain about waiting for help- what if there was NO nurses???
Donna Wileman Castellani I absolutely agree with you, some may like one hospital more than another but Doctors and Nurses are dealing with a tidal wave from this Covid and we have to understand they are taking on a monster
Donna Wileman Castellani exactly. I am a nurse and there are no nurses. Everyone sick from alm the stupidity going on out in the community.
Tony Pirozzi just doctors and nurses? Cool
Leann Bilodeau of course all healthcare worker from all areas – housekeeping, dietary, lab, everyone! The original reply post slammed nurses which is why i focused my reply for that discipline. All are dealing with overloaded ERs, no available beds, critical patients, scared families…. a bit of understanding and patience must be had by the public.
Donna Wileman Castellani Very well put Donna, some people dont have any clue about the monster they are dealing with
Oh I get it! I work in the ER everyday. X-ray deals with all of the covid patients because they all need chest X-rays. Then when they move to the floors, X-ray sees them again and again for more chest X-rays.
Donna Wileman Castellani I’m sure the patients are very frustrated and want to scream too. After all they are the ones that are in need of serious medical attention are aren’t getting the proper care.
Peter Dwulet but the problem is, not everyone that goes to the ER has a serious medical condition. Happens every year during flu season also. ER’s do not have a magic elixir for covid or the flu. Unless you have serious symptoms, stay home.
Diane Araneo-Tamburr ok you just brought up another issue. Doesn’t the er entrance have staff member to initially check vitals and determine if you need to be seen by er staff? I personally feel telling people to stay home is terrible advice. Most people I know that go to the hospital truly feel they in need of serious med attention. Weave out the bogus ones
Peter Dwulet most people that go to an ER are told the wait time in triage. I don’t work in a hospital btw. Common sense would tell most people to either stay home or just go to urgent care. Many people that go to ER do not have insurance. And clearly you didn’t read what I said. Yes, stay home if you’re having normal flu or covid symptoms and are generally healthy. If you fall into the category with complications or can’t breathe, then go to the hospital. About 4 years ago, I had to wait in ER waiting room with my elderly mother, who was genuinely sick and was on dialysis because people do not understand that if they have the flu they should just stay home
Leann Bilodeau thank God for ALL of the team.
Diane Araneo-Tamburr clearly you didn’t read my response either. These are different times. I said they should weave the bogus ones. Meaning the ones that are not in need of serious attention, including the ones with no insurance.
Peter Dwulet by law they are not allowed to refuse medical treatment to anyone. And what if they sent someone home, and that person passed? Individual people should use common sense whether they really need an ER or not
Diane Araneo-Tamburr I understand that and sounds like hospitals need to make some serious changes. It’s just as wrong if the person was in care of the hospital and are waiting very long time for medical help and get worse or die. Don’t you agree? Sounds like the main issue is being understaffed. By now there has to be ways to improvise this issue. What happened to the military tents that were initially used to help out? Just a dog n pony show I guess. Empty buildings that could be used as make shift med centers…etc
Leann Bilodeau I’m with u, no one realizes that X-ray is around all the positive pats, then to be told we r not front line is such a slap in the face, not by community by the way I work else where.
Carolyn M Basso exactly! Zero recognition of being in contact with all suspected and positive patients through out the whole hospital! Not just in a certain section, X-ray does the whole hospital. ICU might need numerous chest X-rays through out the day on covid patients! I’m not even going to ramble on because no one (mainly the higher-ups who have zero contact with covid patients) give a fuck! ????????♀️
What might not seem like an emergency to YOU may very well seem like an emergency to the SICK patient!! If someone has a stuffy nose and feels like they can’t breathe may not seem serious to YOU but to that person who panics because of fear of not breathing IS an emergency. NOBODY has the right to tell anyone else that what they feel isn’t serious enough to be in the ER!!! Yes nurses work extremely hard(SOME OF THEM) BUT….I’ve seen patients sit there for hours pushing buttons for help and the nurses are on there cell phones showing each other pictures and laughing etc…. especially now with Covid, because of the god damn news outlets alot of people are TERRIFIED if they get a cough. So please stop trying to downgrade peoples symptoms as not an emergency. Maybe if medical personnel and news outlets would stop spewing so much fear then people may stay home and realize they only have a cold and won’t panic as much!!
The Difference Between a Healthcare Worker and Combat Vet??? Combat Vet doesn’t usually worry about bring home the Bullets they dodged and infecting the ones they love.
Angelo Eppolito Vets aren’t usually self-centered.
Alexis Koenig they aren’t?? Then why during any election the first thing you hear is what are you doing for Vets. I am not saying they aren’t deserving but so are healthcare workers.
Angelo Eppolito no one career makes you more important then another right now. Cashiers are far more at risk but I don’t hear them calling themselves hero’s. No one is being screened or having them temp checked before entering Target, Shopright, CVS etc.
Angelo Eppolito as a combat veteran I’m not and many of those I know are not. But carry on!!!
Angelo Eppolito and the pandemic is insane since I was over in third world countries they didn’t have masks and there were viruses all over since health is not priority over there! There were no deaths of a virus
Joey Rodgers sure!
Angelo Eppolito lol keep living in fear
Joey Rodgers keep living like a selfish fool.
Tammy Watson Sorry you are wrong
My husband gets his temp
taken everyday at work. All these Dr.s and nurses are exhausted from working long hrs. I know we have 2 1 is in the ER and 2nd one is on the covid floor. Working at another hospital. But every is dealing with the same thing. My husband was in the hospital in January he got the best care at CMC.
Tammy Watson this was not ment to you. Sorry I had another person but hit the wrong key
Donna Wileman Castellani having been in the ED going on divert is never the outcome anyone wants. This time around it is being caused by people who have villainized everything and everyone else but individual behavior. Perhaps people should forgo their selfish desires and do what the SCIENCE recommends. We are well on our way to the collapse of the hospital systems…gee wonder who those people will blame? I wonder how many took the advice this Christmas to close off their doors to anyone not legitimately in their pod? And if you must have someone over, did the family wear a mask and socially distance themselves? We did. We had a zoom with the rest so that everyone could at least see the faces of those we love and miss. Blessed we have technology–they did not in 1918. I did not want to do this, but I do want everyone to live knowing we did our part in protecting family and by doing what is morally our civic duty.
Alexis Koenig I guess we are confused because Science says the flu is damn near gone because everyone is washing their hands and wearing masks, but everyone is getting Covid because no one is washing their hands or wearing masks.
I dread the 2nd and 3rd week in January when shit hits the fan.
Alexis Koenig what do you mean?
Alexis Koenig not to mention the flu
3rd floor nurses were the best!
Before this pandemic that hospital sucks it’s the worst
Not that unusual, diverts happen to all the hospitals in the area at one time or another, jeez lets scare the shit out of people now for those clicks right? Do people know that the same people who track TV ratings do the same for web sites. Click bait people that’s all this is, diverts happened all the time way before the virus. You ain’t scaring me none Ocean County News.
George Worthington
We aren’t here to scare anyone- just to inform our fans of real time news and information.
Ocean County Scanner News sorry to be so blunt, but my mom was a head nurse in the old Point Pleasant Hospital, diverts are nothing unusual especially during cold and flu season or on a holiday like July 4th when people are doing stupid stuff and ending up in the ER. There are times when the ER’s are ghost towns and other times filled to the brim and that’s when a divert happens. In NYC it happens everyday.
George Worthington
No worries- we just want to make sure people under what a divert means .
I was an emt for ten years, CMC was constantly on bivert.
And it’s just the start
