From the OCHD: Allergic reactions experienced from new COVID-19 vaccine reported.
The CDC has learned of reports that some people have experienced severe allergic reactions—also known as anaphylaxis—after getting a COVID-19 vaccine. As an example, an allergic reaction is considered severe when a person needs to be treated with epinephrine or EpiPen© or if they must go to the hospital.
If you get a COVID-19 vaccine and you think you might be having a severe allergic reaction after leaving the vaccination site, seek immediate medical care by calling 911.
What CDC Recommends;
If you have ever had a severe allergic reaction to any ingredient in a COVID-19 vaccine, CDC recommends that you should not get that specific vaccine. If you have had a severe allergic reaction to other vaccines or injectable therapies, you should ask your doctor if you should get a COVID-19 vaccine. Your doctor will help you decide if it is safe for you to get vaccinated.
CDC recommends that people with a history of severe allergic reactions not related to vaccines or injectable medications—such as allergies to food, pet, venom, environmental, or latex—may still get vaccinated. People with a history of allergies to oral medications or a family history of severe allergic reactions, or who might have an milder allergy to vaccines (no anaphylaxis)—may also still get vaccinated.
If you have a severe allergic reaction after getting the first shot, you should not get the second shot. Your doctor may refer you to a specialist in allergies and immunology to provide more care or advice.
Safeguards Are in Place
CDC has provided recommendations for COVID-19 vaccination providers about how to prepare for the possibility of a severe allergic reaction:
All people who get a COVID-19 vaccine should be monitored on-site. People with a history of severe allergic reactions should be monitored for 30 minutes after getting the vaccine. All other people should be monitored for 15 minutes after getting the vaccine.
Vaccination providers should have appropriate medications and equipment—such as epinephrine, antihistamines, stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, and timing devices to check your pulse—at all COVID-19 vaccination sites.
If you experience a severe allergic reaction after getting a COVID-19 vaccine, vaccination providers should provide rapid care and call for emergency medical services. You should continue to be monitored in a medical facility for at least several hours.

And this is why people shouldn’t take a vaccine that hasn’t been tested long enough! Feel for those who took it but they should have had common sense
Joey Rodgers But the government said it was safe!!! ????♂️????♂️ (sarcasm)
Patrick Brennan exactly
A person who doesn’t know their allergies can have anaphylaxis after eating a meal at a restaurant. A vaccine isn’t any different you don’t know every ingredient..
If you don’t know your allergies and some won’t because allergies can be developed, there is a risk with anything new put in the body.
Walking outside in spring isn’t safe for some with allergies for them every day is a risk. You just weigh your options.
Erin Ray I get that but come on 6 months after they find a vaccine? No shit there are going to be issues and most who fear all this who want the vaccine just aren’t thinking about anything! Live your life to the fullest when it’s your turn to go it’s your turn. God has given everyone a number
Patrick Brennan anyone can have an allergic reaction to ANY vaccination, so it’s not a matter of how long the vaccine was tested for or not. People have severe reactions to ingredients of vaccines, food, environmental stuff all of the time. What a silly comment for you to make.
Joey Rodgers
Look up “is Bill Gates tied to Moderna “
Caitlin DiMaggio not really you hear all the time who should and shouldn’t take certain vaccines like if you are allergic to eggs don’t get a flu shot. This vaccine is to new and hasn’t been tested enough so feel free to get it I’ll wait
Erin Ray Ive weighed my options the vaccine doesn’t prevent you from getting Covid and you still have to mask up and so is distance what’s the point of the vaccine then? And if that’s the case why would I take it if there already significant numbers of people having severe allergic reactions to it landing them in the hospital. Thanks but I made an informed decision to opt out
And how many have expired? They are not telling you that bc they are chalking it up to a heart event. Just as they did with the Shingles Vax.
Joanne Jodi Fridson Cohen old shingles vax or new one? I’m ready to get it
Very few
So let’s all get it. NOT !!!
Where is the list of ingredients for this vaccine?
Suzanne Heinen
Ocean County Scanner News ????????
Big shocker here ????
Murphy is a very sick man .
But how? I mean they spent years running this thru trials, after all.
Then don’t get it of you don’t want to….it’s not being forced on you…
Carrie Ann Calello-Martin Not yet.
You can keep the shot.
Colleen Pahlck for sure.
Idc sign me up I want this shit over
Ashlyn Rocha
Ashlyn Rocha I’m just confused how it will be over? You can still get Covid with the vaccine and you still have to mask up a d social distance… I don’t see much change or reason to get it. Especially with so many going to the hospital for adverse effects such as severe allergic reactions. You want it go for it. Me I’ll pass
Keep that mask on Dictator Murphy and hide you ugly huge teeth! Lol!
????????????????????????????????????
I have a severe allergic reaction, requiring an epipen, to being stung by bees so I guess that means I shouldn’t go outside. That is the same type of logic of someone the people commenting here. It doesn’t matter how long or short a period of time the vaccine was tested for, people are going to have a severe reaction if they have a severe allergy to any ingredient in ANY vaccine. They have to report ANY reaction to a vaccine regardless of how long it’s been tested or been around. The majority of people receiving it are likely not experiencing any reaction, let alone a severe one, to the vaccine other than maybe a sore arm. NOTHING ever comes without risk.
Caitlin DiMaggio ok so weighing the option… don’t take the vaccine possible get Covid which has a 98% survival rate or take they shot still be susceptible to Covid and possibly wind up in the hospital or dead do to anaphylactic shock ???? I’ll take my chances with Covid ????????♀️
Christine Hart girl, no one is forcing you to get it ???? I’ll be happily getting it because like I said: nothing in this world comes without risk. As someone who is a parent of high risk kids and myself and some of my family members being high risk, I’m willing to take the chance. Thanks for your not so educated opinion. ????
Caitlin DiMaggio so get it????????♀️ no ones telling you not to. Funny though that you say my opinion is uneducated when your willing to blindly follow what they tell you even when on their own web page it states that it MAY provent covid and in the same breathe says there is no fda approved vaccine for covid! Also if your high risk it says straight out you shouldn’t get the vaccine but ok.. I’d say your the one that has the uneducated opinion. But good luck with that.
You don’t say
That’s a big reason not to get it
Michele Rhinehart
We are dead..lol…
Bobby Talavera just dont get the shot
Patricia Lorraine Zennario …no way…..lol….
Jen Cooney
Funny, Facebook has been marking these stories as misleading for days. Now the cdc is saying it’s happening, and there is no longer a fact checker under it.
Michael Connolly Dennis actually, it has been being widely reported since the first reactions when the vaccine was given in England. Thing is, it is still rare, easily treatable where the vaccines are being given, and research into the why started immediately. Not everyone is flipping out over it, because it’s not something to flip out about. BBC, CNN, wapo and NYTs all reported on the reactions in England immediately. Not sure where you get your news, or how small your newsfeed bubble is that you didn’t know, but now you do.
This is why the government SHOULD NOT be pushing this vaccine on people.
Venom? Holy crap pretty sure that’s almost everybody.
Kathy Barrett Cogan
The title here is misleading. Any vaccine can give you an allergic reaction people. It’s nothing new. Just another scare tactic. If you follow what the cdc is saying, all it’s saying is to be careful if you’ve ever had a hx of allergic reaction
Danni Dirato no chance thanks
Patricia Lorraine ok
Danni Dirato i do have autoimmune issue and im understanding if you have that you shouldnt get the shot. Have you heard that?
Patricia Lorraine Zennario I haven’t heard much on the autoimmune diseases, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they can’t. That’s why it’s important for other to be vaccinated that way those with those issues
Danni Dirato exactly. My friend got that from flu vaccine.
blah blah blah….you cant get an allergic reaction to a bee sting, food, etc. not really any news here other then ignorance. Im sure when the polio vaccine came out people were cautious, but the risk of the vaccine out weighed being crippled the rest of their life. Got a better chance of getting this shit, then having an allergic reaction, so get the fuck outta my way, i’ll take it.
????????????????????????
George Frncis you realize you can still get Covid with the vaccine right?
How are we to know if we are allergic to any ingredient in the vaccine? Not like they are broadcasting the nutrition information with a list of ingredients in a public space.
William Freer https://www.fda.gov/media/144414/download
William Freer merry Christmas
William Freer if you are severely allergic to anything, make sure they know and stay for a while after to make sure you don’t react. So far there is nothing indicating it is a reaction to a component per say, but rather a possible overall trigger if you have severe allergies.
Amie Newcomb thank you! Have no clue what half of these items are, so will have to look up. I know by this both my daughters cannot get as they are immunocompromised
Right….just like every medicine, vaccine, and food has the potential to cause someone to have an allergic reaction.
So let’s push fear is the new plan, Everything has its risk, you weight the pros and cons of FACTS and make your own decision. Getting in a car cause hazards as well.
If you have sever allergies to anything, just make sure the person giving you the vaccibe knows, and if they continue, make sure you stick around for a while so you can get medical attention id needed. Allergic reactions are far easier to treat than covid, thats for damn sure.
Tizzie Cregan have you had covid?
John Whitewood Monath no, and I hope not to, as I have seen what it does
And this is one of the reasons you should get the vaccine from a Doctor and not in a drug store
Vaccine has not been out 5 minutes and people are running to get it. ????
The next form of population control !

Will the vaccines work against the new variant?
Almost certainly yes, or at least for now.
All three leading vaccines develop an immune response against the existing spike, which is why the question comes up.
Vaccines train the immune system to attack several different parts of the virus, so even though part of the spike has mutated, the vaccines should still work.
“But if we let it add more mutations, then you start worrying,” said Prof Gupta.
“This virus is potentially on a pathway for vaccine escape, it has taken the first couple of steps towards that.”
Vaccine escape happens when the virus changes so it dodges the full effect of the vaccine and continues to infect people.
This may be the most concerning element of what is happening with the virus.
This variant is just the latest to show the virus is continuing to adapt as it infects more and more of us.
A presentation by Prof David Robertson, from the University of Glasgow on Friday, concluded: “The virus will probably be able to generate vaccine escape mutants.”
That would put us in a position similar to flu, where the vaccines need to be regularly updated. Fortunately the vaccines we have are very easy to tweak.
