Hey, have you heard the story about the Battleship, New Jersey being stuck in the Point Pleasant Canal? How about the one about the Brielle local who finished a documentary about Bigfoot or about the Andrews Triplets and their “Cirque du Soleil Debut”?

I wouldn’t blame you if you havent, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t completely hillarious.

The Bay Head Beacon recently came to our attention after more than a few people to sent us reports of their outlandish claims. Their “blogger” profile shows they have been on the platform since July 2020, which is when their first story about the sandal stealing “Flip-flop Kid’ first appeared.

While all their stories purport to be real, and even have photo-shopped pictures they use as proof, some of their stories seem to be a bit more malicious than others. Such as the story saying that convenience store workers are taking winning lottery tickets and exchanging them for duds when someone brings in a winner or even more recently a story about 1000 discarded ballots being found outside the Post Office in Bay Head. The story even quotes that Dolion Votazione (get it?) isn’t buying it.

The Bay Head Beacon can be found commenting on their own stories, telling people they aren’t real.

The blog really is just supposed to be entertaining, but it is interesting how often people think the stories are real. The USS New Jersey being stuck in the canal was the one that surprised me the most. So many people believed it!

The Bay Head Beacon

So in conclusion… No, the battle ship New Jersey is not in the Point Pleasant Canal, there is no zipline over said canal, there were not 1000 ballots found outside the Bayhead Post office, etc. Satire is all in good fun, but never before have we seen a satirical site try so hard to hide that that they are satire. Most reasonable people try to avoid the comments on such sites and this is leading to a lot of misinformation.
