Remember commuter life before EZ Pass or Toll by Mail? You had to stop your car, roll down window, obtain Turnpike ticket at entry toll booth, and keep it safe until you exited. Upon exiting the Turnpike, you would usually give the ticket to a toll booth attendant. He or she would tell you the toll based of how far you drove, and the driver would pay the price listed. If you lost your ticket, you got banged as if you drove the whole length of the highway.

This particular ticket is from roughly 1998-2000 era of the New Jersey Turnpike. Perhaps someone out there can precisely date it based off the tolls?
