Berkeley: On 11/01/2020 at 0332Hrs the Berkeley Township Police Department responded to a call for a Robbery of an Uber driver in the Holiday City section of Berkeley.

The victim stated he picked up his fare in the Bayville section of Berkeley and was to bring him to a residence in Holiday City. As they were arriving near the destination the actor put the victim in a chokehold and began assaulting him. During the assault, the actor removed money from the victims pocket and then fled from the vehicle.

The victim was able to leave the area and call police for assistance. The victim had minor injuries and refused further medical treatment.

Detective Shawn Bowens and Detective Michael Riccardelli responded to continue the investigation, this included the execution of a court authorized search warrant, the collection of evidence ,interviews with involved persons, assist in the apprehension of the offender.

It was also at this time that Patrolman William Shoemaker, Patrolman Jacob Camaraza and Sergeant William Cullen responded to the address of the actors destination and made contact with Julian Scara, 32 years old.

Mr. Scara actively resisted arrest and physically assaulted and threatened to harm the officers as he was being taken into custody. Scara was transported to Berkeley Township Police Department and was processed.

Mr. Scara was charged with Robbery, Simple Assault, four counts of Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement, 3 counts of Resisting Arrest, Theft and Terroristic Threats.

Mr. Scara was remanded to the Ocean County Jail in accordance with bail reform.
