Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer has announced that the deceased, elderly female discovered in a wooded area of Berkeley Township has been identified as Edith Liguori, 91, of Toms River.
On October 24, 2020, the Berkeley Township Police Department received a 911 call relative to a report of an unresponsive, unidentifiable female located in a wooded area along an ATV trail, approximately one-and-a-half mile south of Township Line Road in Berkeley Township. Responding Officers found the body to be in advanced stages of decomposition.
A post mortem examination performed by the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the body as that of Ms. Liguori. The death is not considered to be suspicious.
So sad! How does a 91 year old person go missing long enough that their body is decayed and noone reported her as missing? ????

Danielle Marie Even if there is no family to check on her neighbors should have noticed. She probably had mail piling up in her mailbox so the mail carrier could have sent up a red flag. I’ve left mail in my box for 1 day, which is abnormal for me, and my mail carrier knocked on my door. People need to do better!

Judy Ann could have been reported missing just not found. My son and his friend found the man hanging recently in the woods and he had been reported missing in June.

If family had noticed her absence I think they would have been out looking for her being 91.I know I would have.

She most likely lived alone. Has no family. Actually that is not unusual. Went for a walk , got disoriented and could find her way home. Very sad.

You would be surprised how many people go missing and no one notices for long periods of time. Not everyone is close with relatives, not everyone has relatives,not everyone has friends. There are more people than you think literally completely alone in this world and a lot of people go missing and no one notices for a very long time. Was she ever reported missing? Feel bad if she was alone took a walk from her home and got lost or fell. So sad so many reasons she could have dementia got lost on a walk and ended up passing away from not having meds food proper care. Sad

She lived alone after her husband died. She had 2 children, and YES, she had been reported as missing.
How is her death not suspicious though????
