Today, the Howell Township Office of Emergency Management sent a notice to All Township Residents that effective immediately all Township Parks were to be CLOSED.
The letter cited a recent uptick in COVID cases combined with the large number of complaints being received that the parks were filled to capacity with individuals who were not social distancing or wearing masks.
The letter went on to remind any individual not adhering to this closing, could face a fine under the local state of Emergency and Executive order 107.
As part of our local declared State of Emergency, The Township is closing all of the Township
Victor Cook, OEM Coordinator
Parks effective immediately.
This is due to the recent uptick in COVID cases combined with the large number of complaints
being received that the parks are filled to capacity, with users not social distancing and with
most individuals not adhering to the Executive Order 107 and not wearing mask.
Any individual not adhering to this closing, could face a fine under the local state of Emergency
and Executive order 107.
ALL PARKS SHALL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Finally a town that cares
William Cap no a town that caved to a certain group
We all know who we can blame for this ????
They need to send it to the neighboring town..
Lisa Burnett Kalinowski more than one!
They didn’t care before either. I remember them just going past yellow tape to play on things in the spring.
Bunch of sheep
Not like it will stop them.
well when its closed, the township has recourse
Hope Brick follows their lead!
Jayne Ann why? Why not give citations to the people being jerks? Why ruin it for everyone?
Chris Lyle that’s true…doubt that would happen though..its just a shame all around.
Jayne Ann no they would scream antisemitism
Chris Lyle oh you damn well know it!!
Chris Lyle because that will not work
Laura McHale and making everyone miserable again will? No. If I want to go to a park and walk my dog that’s what I’m going to do. That’s what I pay taxes for. They can’t say that I can’t go cause of some assholes who think they’re better than everyone else.
Chris Lyle then maybe they will keep it open..but will be as it is now..still want to go? Lots of luck
Laura McHale tries to go to cattus island yesterday to walk my dog. Place was filled with minivans and zero social distancing from a particular group that’s above the law and doesn’t care about anyone except themselves. I left. I didn’t even leave my truck.
Chris Lyle it’s not right
Toms River parks were overcrowded today too! Kids were disappointed but not worth it. Something needs to be done. People just don’t care.
They have their own way of thinking with illness and God and they need to stay in their own neighborhood with that.
If my kids were younger I wouldn’t allow them to play on playground equipment right now . The biggest germ breeding ground .
It will never happen but going forward every park should be residents only.. No overcrowding for the most part, people aren’t blaming others from outside towns. But nothing is ever that easy it’s gotta be a shitshow
Bryan Becker If it’s a Green Acres park, it’s a State park open to anyone
Carol Vineyard yeah I know that’s why I said it will never happen.
Bryan Becker Not all parks are Green Acres. Some are municipal
Carol Vineyard state parks can only be shut down by the state. County parks by the county..township parks by the town.
We made it all summer without a problem now here we go!!!
because you think they arent Howell Residents??? surprise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
can’t if they take grant money…you want a neighborhood park to be just that…where its your neighbors…its not that you don’t want to share just nice when you know who is there…and you also don’t want to feel that people are coming in and taking over your neighbor park
Unenforceable
Close to Lakewood
But unfair to actual residents of impacted towns
Dale Palladino it’s only for the week that that Lkwd residents have their holiday. Howell will be okay
Sharon Lynn Huber but it is so wrong that all now have to pay the price for the few that have so little regard for anyone outside of their community
Sharon Lynn Huber Don’t they have parks in Lakewood?
Connie G-Wesosky better get used to it………
Dale Palladino and they live in Howell, Jackson, TomsRiver, etc, etc
true but they aren’t getting to use it anyway with it overcrowded by people from outside the area
Kathi Siebern Hummell Unfortunately I know the story well. I moved down from Rockland Cty NY
Dale Palladino they have lots of parks
Anthony Dispoto
They wont listen…
then cops are called…if its closed, they cannot be there
Laura McHale cops don’t touch the Hasidics
Laura Schneider Lange if the Park is closed they will have to tell them to leave.
Good
They don’t want Covid in their town. Lacey…. take notice
This is the new norm and it’s only going to get worse, the more people sell the more they will come, wait till new year
People need to go to work and kids need to go to school. It just proof how teachers are getting paid for a full weeks work and not earning it
Sissy Tma ????♀️ Come to my district. Teachers are working harder than ever. My students are on Zoom Meets Learning from 8:50 AM – 3:30 PM.
Sissy Tma They are Actually working two jobs. Trying to teach in class and remotely at the same time. They are working harder then ever. I think you need to reread into what is being implied. Please understand it is a Holiday week for some so there are many people who are off and going to the parks. It has nothing to do with teachers.
They are working harder than you , trust me
Thats not what the children are saying
The children are saying they want to go to school and they are not learning from virtual.
Mauricio Gamvi there are an awful alot of kids at the parks all day long . It clearly Looks like they have alot of free time
Sissy Tma I believe it might be kids who do not attend our township public schools..
Mauricio Gamvi the only ones working hard are the parents that have their own jobs and then have to carry the load of the teaching from the failed remote learning
sad for our kids..but it needs to be done!
Much of this tension could be avoided if everyone was respectful. The major complaints we hear are about trash left, not adhering to occupancy limits, improper parking, and disregard of posted regulations.
That would be great if CERTAIN people would be respectful, but they are raised to believe WE are here to SERVE THEM. So good luck with that…
and that community is the biggest offender of ALL the things you say we need to be respectful of.
Ocean County Scanner News well when every family has 15 kids and they’re slovenly litterers.. this is what happens
Ocean County Scanner News and only one has anything to do with Covid
Ocean County Scanner News the trash issue is unbelievable.. I can’t wrap my head around that
Just imagine how these comments would look if these were people of a different race?? Unbelievable ????
Kathleen Strittmatter can’t deny truth . Fact are facts . Look at NY
Jennifer Nabel absolutely..2nd largest community in the US besides Williamsburg NY.. no regard for any other people in the world. They actually advertise in Israel to move to Lakewood…do some research
Kathleen Strittmatter it’s pathetic
Karen Kennedy extra false. ???? C- for effort
Christine McKay research sweetheart
Christine McKay takes 2 seconds
Karen Kennedy precisely.
Christine McKay Or you’re just lazy. I also have friends doing humanitarian work there. Also my friend’s daughter is studying environment and sustainability at ben Gurian University..so who you got there?
Christine McKay I see ur not too far north.. wait for them to trickle in…..lolol.. I’ll be watching.. real estate in Silverton, lots of TR and Jackson and Howell are worth shit now.. unless you’re going to take cash from this evil community to destroy your neighborhood and school systems…but have at it. I fled NJ in the nick of time…
Jennifer Nabel true. But replace the word Jewish with black or hispanic and see how it sounds??? ????????
Kathleen Strittmatter And if it was the black or Hispanic community they should be called out to. ????
Jennifer Nabel yeah I’m sure that would happen ????????
Kathleen Strittmatter Lol. I always love these comments. You really need to fully educate yourself on Lakewood to grasp the severity of the issues. Then you’ll understand the comments
About time, i guess the truth hurts
Always one group who just don’t follow the rules has zero to do with who they pray to
Total disregard of rule and orders
Kaitlin Ader
Great. Run in fear.
Rob Duane dude i so agree. Rediculus
I’m sure neighboring towns will follow
Nicole Albanese omg you’ve got to be kidding me
Antoinette Ferrara I saw that. So it’s only Howell
Nicole Albanese brick better not be next
Antoinette Ferrara I just edited my last comment lol
This is ridiculous
Nicole Albanese yes, for now
Nicole Albanese lol I was wondering what you were saying ????
Antoinette Ferrara ????????
Lakewood is going to fuck us all
The world can shut down but some how Lakewood could Operate 24-7
Chris Donley yeppp ????
Chris Donley I don’t think the average person understands the power this community yields. Plus the $$$$$$ pay offs
Brittany Marie Uptick
Megan Torode
Kimberly Torode it’s coming
Hugh Evelyn that sucks
So a knee-jerk reaction by this township combine with Murphy’s REFUSAL to address the root of the problem is devastating. This move also took away all sports from the kids. Now this “community” that is flooding these parks will just move to another township. Way to NOT solve a problem Howell. Or Durphy.
What happened to 2 weeks to flatten the curve? To not overwhelm the hospitals.Have the goalposts moved?
Jim Alfredsen by 2 weeks.. they meant 4 years.
Jim Alfredsen Murphy tweeted today that until there are 0 Covid hospitalizations for a very long time. Welcome to new Jermany
Jim Alfredsen Now he says until there are zero hospital admissions.
Brick will probably be next.
Riverwood park was beyond packed yesterday not one mask in sight and no social distancimg, I turned right back around and left.
Time to take your Dogs to the park…
Thank you Lakewood! ????????
Michele Elizabeth
Caity Thomas Chris Hall
Melissa Horton DeMayo was literally going to email you about this lol
Nakia Walker-Johnson
Shout out to the residents of Lakewood that ruin it for everyone!
They certainly seem to have a way of ruining things, Towns, Parks anything!!
I disagree with their OEM, and I’ve worked in the field for 20 years and see the same data that they do. ????????♂️
Julia Augur #poolhidden
Jessica Davitt #eyegouge
You go Howell!!
Lakewood, the gift that just keeps giving!!
Insane!
Half of lakewood (exaggerated- 32 cars to be exact) full of Lakewood’s were all parked along route 35 in mantoloking today enjoying themselves on the beach.
Lakewood, you suck
