From the NJ Division of Parks & Forestry: Today is National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day. We remember those career and volunteer firefighters and Forest Fire Service members who have lost their lives while on duty, including the four volunteer firemen from Eagleswood here in Ocean County who lost their lives battling a wildfire in Bass River State Forest in 1977.
