Lakehurst: As October began, local residents learned that Burger King has officially closed in town. Seemingly overnight the fast food restaurant closed its’ doors with no notice. Many former employees also reported that they were given zero advance notice of the impending closure. The building sits today stripped of signage with a lone sad note taped to the door. The note thanks customers for their patronage, and invites them to visit the two remaining locations in Toms River.

Burger King has been disappearing from the Ocean County area in recent years. Locations have closed in Point Pleasant Beach, Bayville, Toms River (Fischer Boulevard), Lacey, Stafford, and now Lakehurst. For those who want their flame broiled burgers still, you’ll have to visit Brick, Toms River (2 locations), Lakewood, Forked River Rest Stop, or Barnegat. Plans have been submitted to reopen a BK in Lacey in a new building at a new location in town.

Lakehurst residents- what fast food would you like to see come to town now?
